04 g35 tire size question
 

Hello im from New York and i have an 04 g35 coupe. The streets here are horrendous. Even the parkways have bad pot holes and bad speed bump like hazards. It will literally destroy your car and rattle the heck out of your vehicle.

i currently have 225's in front and 245's in the rear. The ride is just too harsh im either gonna destroy my suspension, rims, tires or all of the above. I would like to know what the biggest tire size i could use with the stock rims for a smoother ride. Thanks for any info and guidance i appreciate it.

I doubt tire size is what's messing with ride quality, what springs and struts/shocks are you using?

I second that.^ Also the smaller wheels you have the smoother the ride and type of tires matters as well. A touring tire is going to give a better ride than an Ultra High Performance tire will in general. An 18" tire on an 18" wheel will be smoother than the same tire on a 19 or 20" wheel and it's cheaper. For whatever reason, maybe total numbers produced, 19" tires seem to consistently more expensive than 18 or 20s. Of course there are tradeoffs in changing from size of tires and type of tires but only you can decide what are your main needs; performance, comfort, long life etc. Identify those then go from there to make your decisions.

I believe thry are factory. I bought the car with 40k on it they shouldnt be shot i woukdnt think. Unless the car has more miles than the speedometer lets on. The car is old but i would think it shouldnt matter.

Check the DOT production stamp, it's 4 digits I side an elongated oval, first two digits is the week and last 2 digits is the year of production. If they're over 5 years old they should probably be replaced. If they're over 10 years old don't drive the vehicle.

Are your shocks in good shape, how many miles are on them? New shocks won't matter too much and neither would running 245's on all four corners. Guess you'll just have to slow down and dodge those holes and ruts in your streets...sucks I know!

They only have 4500 miles on the shocks. Where do i look for that production date on the tire wall or shock? And thanks for the responses i appreciate it

S/B on the sidewall of the tire and tube of the shock Tony but wait for a cool morning, the summer weather we're having doesn't do al lot for our patience! :OHBOY:
