Why does my exhaust not sound as loud as before.
I have a g35 coupe 07 with motordyne art pipes and exhaust. I feel as if my exhaust is not as long anymore. I don't think it's because I got use to it before it really doesn't sound as loud as it should be with ART pipes. Do I need a tune or is there something on my exhaust I need to check?

Could be carbon build up, IIRC most exhausts tend to quiet down with age as carbon builds up in areas (although ones with resonators/packed mufflers can get louder due to the materials breaking down).

I only had the exhaust for about a month so would carbon build up so quick. Also, how can I get rid of it.

Not sure if there is a way to clean out carbon aside from taking it off and scrubbing it. It's inevitable anyway, combustion always makes carbon and it'll always stick on pipes. Seems more likely that you've gotten used to it, although check to make sure you don't have a leak around the headers or something that is making it quieter downstream. Also check if your air filter is clean, that might be messing with stuff.
Aside from that, I dunno what it could be with ART pipes, with HFC you can get the catalytic honeycomb breaking down and changing exhaust tone, but that obviously doesn't apply with ART pipes. |
You're going deaf from having an exhaust that's too loud....

That is likely just the exhaust settled in, they all change tone slightly after the initial break-in. Usually they sound less raspy/shitty once they're broken in.

^ unfortunately mine rasps from 1900-2300 RPM after breaking in so I am gonna look for HFC's.
