2006 G35X Pass side CV Axle won't come out.Help!
I read the DIY on this job but the inner spline will not come out. I've pried and pulled and tried to turn for an hour. It has about a 1/16th of an inch play that it will allow you to pull then stops. The rest of the shaft is out and just the boot and the spline in the differential remains. Getting close to having it towed to a shop. 17 year old daughter's car and I'm under the gun!

Just spoke to an Infiniti tech who says i need a slide hammer with CV attachment, No one else ever mentioned that. I always seem to be the exception.;

Undo the 6 or 7 bolts that hold it to the differential and let it hang.
Then get a mallet and bang on it from the outer side of the wheel. |
U did remove the cotter pin and the nut...correct? |

My neighbor,who has owned a Diesel shop for 25 years is stopping by within the hour. He said he's never had to use anything but screwdrivers and prybars. We'll see if he's still saying that with this setup on jackstands.

He got it out in a minute with an 18" screwdriver with a curved end. Nightmare over.

Yeah I've taken out MANY CV axles the wrong way with a small prybar that has dimensions similar to that screwdriver until one time I accidently cracked a transaxle doing that. There's a reason the FSM, every Haynes/Chiltons manual and every other shop manual ALL say to use a slide hammer, it's basically just common knowledge by now. It's the right tool for the job with no inherent risk of damaging the housing of the axle.

Yeah I used to just wedge the prybar against the side of the first joint and give it a quick shove as well lol. I probably did that for 15 years before I ever had the problem with that transaxle on an early 90's Sentra. There isn't a LOT of pressure on that internal snap ring and it was probably simply due to the design of the transaxle but I'll never do it again like that.
