Took off headlight and now my stereo wont turn off
I took off the passenger side headlight (stock) to change my light bulb but ended up just putting it back. I plug everything the way it's supposed to be but the turn signal light wont stay on unless I use the turn signal or my hazard lights on. So it only works when its flashing practically. But I also realized that my aftermarket stereo, amp, and subs wont turn off when I take the key off the ignition and exit the vehicle. It only turns off when I disconnect the battery. When I reconnect it, the stereo, amp, subs turn right back on without me needing to put the key back in. Anybody know what going on? Is it a fuse or something? I really need help with this one. 2005 Infiniti g35 coupe

I believe your turn signal light has 2 filaments in there. One is for parking lights, and the other is for the turn signal. One of the filaments prolly burned out...so change the bulb. Your audio stuff.....is it all aftermarket equipment. Was it working fine before?? |
Ya everything is aftermarket. All of it was working fine until I took off the headlight and put it back on

I'm so sorry :(
All I can say is to go through and look for crossed wiring although I can't fathom how the subsystems could be related.... |

Okay I read your OP again. A good place to start is the power wire (or wires) to the aftermarket stereo/amp/whatever is on that shouldn't be. If you trace that from the battery you might be able to find where the wires are crossed with 12V. If your turn signal isn't working on one filament that wire (there's one for each filament) could be broken and shorting against something.... although there's no power to that unless the headlights are on so that's probably not it either.

Before we jump to any conclusions and start tearing śhit up, do a simple test. It could just be a matter of the ignition not turning fully off. Check to see if the power port in the center console has power when the key is off. |
Not sure why you didnt turn the wheel and go thru the weather guard. Theres three grounds for the headlight. One for each bottom screw. They look like shiny metal brackets. Check all of those and compare to the good drivers side. It might not be the problem, but electrical can be hard to troubleshoot/random. Only saying this cuz the last thing you did was remove the headlight before it happened. Also disconnect the battery for anything electrical just to be safe.
