245s all around on stock rays?
 

I know there's been other posts that I've read through on the subject but I haven't seen any asking about in winter/snow season.

I just picked up almost brand new blizzaks for $275 all 4 are 245/40/19. I'm just wondering if I can run these square on stock 19 inch rays in the winter only and be fine.

From reading the stock tire dimensions. Your fronts might look funny. Theyll be too wide in the front for the rim. As for safety. I have no idea tbh. But i wouldnt mount them.

Do you know the tread #?

I'm running 245x35 on my 18x7.5" stock sedan 'rays' style wheels, autox'd them without issue.

OP you'll be fine. However skinnier wheels/tires are superior to larger diameters in the snow. Basically the opposite of summer tire performance.

You'll do fine with 245's at each corner without issues! A better choice might be 225's for winter tires since you're plowing thru that white stuff...Gary

Wait... are you saying you autocrossed your sedan with a sidewall of 35?

OP keep the tires for rears. I dont believe in buying used tires imo. Unless youre a truck driver. After 55% of wear the blizzak will be just reg winter tires. It said something about a snow pattern showing.

But.. they probably needed to get rid of old inventory

Thanks . I may have to just go the route of buying 2 of the 225/40/19s for fronts... The tires appear to have been only used 1 possibly 2 seasons at most . There is still a ton of tread left on all 4.

Running square sizes of that dimension on the coupe may mess your traction control system up and cause it to trigger when cornering when there is no wheelslip. It's setup to expect a difference in overall tire circumference from front to back with an allowance for some degree of deviation from stock. Going square around at the stock rear size will be a fairly large deviation from stock front to rear size ratio.

Most sedans are AWD so they come with the same size tires all around from the factory so as to not put undue strain on the AWD components. This is a different situation than the RWD coupes that come stock with a staggered tire configuration.

OP: Like already mentioned, a square setup will work just fine.

I usually just sort by new and don't pay attention to what section it's in. Figured giving my wheel size and tire size would at least contribute to whether or not it's safe to run xxx size tires on xx width wheels.
