Hissing from PCV valve -

So long story short - did the plugs, PCV and Plenum spacer in one sitting. Car runs fantastic and is much smoother - I notices a hissing sound from the PCV valve - can even make it change when wiggled. Wasn't sure if this is normal (as my old PCV valve was stuck) or if I may have cracked or damaged during install.

Do you usually hear some air pulling in from this location when running? It is definitely a new sound, nothing seems out of place and the car is performing like a champ. Threw out the old PCV so nothing to campare it with … Was worried I had an air leak on the plenum, but she was torqued down to spec.

Thanks~

Yes it hisses a little but if the sound changes when you wiggle then it's probably not 100% sealed up.

That's good to know - one of those: "I know I would have noticed that before" type of deals. I will pull it off and re-thread it this weekend, might be my excuse for a catch can purchase!

I've never replace a PCV valve on any car I've owned, there's no reason to when all you need to do is clean it with carb cleaner! Is it possible that all valves are not the same diameter and you installed the wrong one, or the rubber grommet in your valve cover is cracked? I would investigate both of these possibilities since they're not supposed to make noise!

My old plastic PCV cracked when I pulled it out to clean it, so I replaced it. I get a hiss from my catch can setup too, it's normal just air going through a small hose.

Wish I had all your answers!

I've had catch cans on SLICKsince '05 and never heard a noise from any of them, broken hose or connection can only be the cause with a closed system! Is it possible the hose you're using isn't what's required for the PCV or Catch can and it's failed? :dunno: Since day one I've used Gates Safety Stripe CS101206 25 hose which will never fail, only sold at high quality auto parts stores and speed shops!

My Mishimoto baffled catch can hisses, it's normal.

That's my next mod - saw the kit on CZP for around $230 - thinking I will do that and the short throw shifter to really increase the "drive experience" - pretty happy with the results of my last bolt ons. No tune, but definitely a sound and seat of your pants increase.

Anyone know an ARKANSAS shop that does uprev?

Personally I wouldn't pay double for that fancy bracket and hoses but it does look really nice and clean.
