My AT Coupe doesn't want to turn on sometimes.

Does this happen to you guys? Sometimes it takes like 4 tries to get it going. Only happens in the middle of the day when it's hot. Do you think it's the heat?

Don't think I've had that problem with my coupe. Where about are you from? Egypt? j/k Well the most it get's around here is about 80 to 85. I'm in So. Cali right on the beautiful coast and never had a problem with mine... Try parking it in the shade or a garage if it get's to hot in the area.

I only had it happen to me once. I live in cali as well. This was about 6pm. And at time, only had about 500-600 miles on it.

Could be vapour lock in the fuel system where air bubbles into the fuel line on a hot day.
I've noticed this on mine after parking, where underhood gets heat soaked and within about 1/2 hour it's difficult to start. Anything before that it's ok and anything after that it's ok.

TAKE IT TO THE DEALER!

And tell them what's happening and let them check / do whatever they need to do to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Only problem with taking it to the dealer is the fact that her car only doesn't start sometimes. Oh man intermitent problems are a b*tch to get fixed. With the S2000 the thing would hesitate during acceleration and sometimes stall when stopped, ONCE IN A WHILE. Took about 5-6 trips to the dealer and they could never recreate the problem. Got luck one day and she stalled in front of the mechanic, turns out the spark plugs were bad.

I hope the heat doesn't have anything to do with it cause if it is a problem that involves heat I doubt my Black beauty will like that.

I agree with Wicked. TAKE IT TO THE DEALER!!! Make them fix it. New car should not have that problem. I live in Florida, and have not had that problem. If I do, the dealer will definately be taking care of it. You don't spend $35K on a car to have probs. starting it!!!

Re: My AT Coupe doesn't want to turn on sometimes.

My brother is actually having the same issue with his G35C 6MT, although he recently had a Audiovox remote starter installed and we were contemplating if that is what was causing the problem. We're in So cali and It was about 100 degrees out 2 days ago when this occured.

We cranked and cranked and it just wouldn't turn over..
After about 2 hours he hit the remote started and it started..

Turned it off and it wouldn't start again..

I dont know if the heat has anything to do with is becuase he was washing his car the night before and it did tha same thing but turned over the second crank..

Maybe something to do with moisture as said above..

Re: My AT Coupe doesn't want to turn on sometimes.

yea, i have the solution. All you guys probably insert the key and try to ignite.. ugh huh.. Won't work on a summer day.. Basically what you have to do is inseert the key.. Turn right to turn the gauges on, etc and wait for 10 seconds until it reads the code in the chip of the key. This should do the trick. I had to learn the hard way! 2 HOURS at work couldnt get it started ! I felt like I had a Ford G35. It was so embarasing

Re: My AT Coupe doesn't want to turn on sometimes.

When I got the G, the sales showed me instructions on the chip. She even gave me instructions. Have them somewhere in my glove box. Something like, turn the key to on.....then wait 10 seconds, turn off. turn to on again for 10 seconds, then off. to to on again for 10 seconds then off. After, to try and start the car. It suppose to reidentify the key.

Re: My AT Coupe doesn't want to turn on sometimes.

Hey folks.............just a thought. My Maxima (pre 6mt coupe) would get that funny hard start problem at a critical temperature point when trying to restart after the vehicle has been run awhile and sitting for an hour or so off. Nissan has a tech bulletin on this problem (I do not have the reference number) but it was a Hard Start symptom....crank and crank but no start. ( the starter cranked fast. No weak battery stuff)It did not happen frequently, but often enough for me to learn to press the accelerator just enough to overcome and start. Of course the maxima had a hard wired throttle were our G's are electronic wire????

The bottom line for the tech bulletin was that the water temperature sensor was acting up and providing the wrong data to the computer. Since the max's 30DE engine if basically the same as our 35 DE........this could be the issue. I live in So Cal and have not had this problem with my coupe....as a matter of fact I think our G' engines literally explode into start mode instantly. Hope this helps.
