Rear of the car feels like it's swaying a bit
Just got back from a drive and my coupe feels really weird. I noticed a subtle swaying from the rear tires when I was driving normally. It was almost the same feeling you get when driving on a highway with high cross winds, but not as drastic. Anyone have any ideas what this could be?

how are your tires?

They seem to be fine, got a couple thousand miles on them, haven't really used them too much.
|
Is it a consistent feeling, or was it just on that section of road? Reason I ask is because ruts in the pavement, made by large trucks and rigs, have an effect very similar to crosswinds. Just something to consider while trying to diagnose.

It seemed to be that it could be that particular section and ones like it. I'm going to pop off my tires this weekend and make sure everything is on ok.

You wave aftermarket rims, correct? Take a look on the inner side of the rim to be sure there aren't a TON of wheel weights used to balance them. Sometimes they do this to offsett an out-of-round tire. Of course, you would notice some tire 'wobble' at all highway speeds all the time, not just occasionally.
But as long as you're pulling the wheels off, you might as well check for excess wheel weights. |
Check tire pressures, lug nuts, wheel bearings, rear alignment, otherwise it's the road surface.
