I'm a lil worried...
Hey fellas,
I had posted a thread about breaking in the engine and I think I neglected every recommendation stated on the manual (due to sheer excitement). I got the car at 413miles on the odometer and made a trip from austin to houston. Speed tested a couple of times and topped out at 122mph. I even got close to redlining a few times. Will this hinder the engine's performance and life dramatically? Did I hurt my sweetheart already? foobs :( |
Doubt it, just don't make a habit of it this early on.
However, based on past oil analysis that have been posted here and your use/abuse, I would do an oil change as soon as you get a chance. If your still worried, have an oil analysis done with your oil change. |
I think you should be fine, just dont rev up anymore.
If it still bothers you, have it checked out.. but i dont think it should be a problem |
Take it easy man, until 1200 miles or more. A little control now will pay off in spades miles down the road. ;)

No not at all. Just keep running it hard! But make sure you don't stay in the red zone for too long...

Sell the car after the warranty expires and let other peeps worry about your mistake ;D

well that just makes me feel all warm inside ^^

these cars are designed well, you shouldnt have any problems unless you really go overboard with the abuse. if it makes you feel better, i got my car in dallas and drove it back to houston (4hrs). a week later with maybe 400mi on the clock i drove it to miami. I didn't exceed 4k rpms until 1200mi, and i didnt use cruise control... of course i couldnt help but keep it at the same speed pretty often. i varied that speed though as often as i could.. anyway 17k mi later the car's running fine (knock on wood lol) just enjoy it, but dont abuse it on a regular basis |
oh i definitely don't abuse it on a daily basis. i'm around 13-1500 miles (forgot already) and I just drive normally with a little variation in speed now. I only go full throttle when I feel challenged or pissed...which usually happens only on Saturday night. So i think it should be ok. :)

I personally don't believe that bull-****

i agree... plus who the hell cares? most of the so called "break in" issues occur after about 15 - 20+ years... are you still going to have that car as a daily driver after that long? or will you have gotten a new car by then?
