@#$% MAD - Tire damaged by America's Tire Company (56K warning)

So I take my tire in to be plugged (nail) and when I went to pick it up, they told me they "dropped" the wheel. They said that they would repair the wheel for me. I think I should ask for a new one. I dont see how you can get some of these scratches and 1 small chunk from a drop. It could have landed on something but....

ask for a new wheel

anotherg35 Jun 20, 2005 12:37 PM

I'm going at lunch time to talk to the manager and tell him I want a new rim..not a repaired one...I'll let you all know how it turns out.

That looks like they did that with the machine that is used to put the tire back on after they patched the tire from the inside. I would make them but you a brand new wheel! Tell them it won't match if it is repaired and will probably cost more than a new wheel anyway.

Thats what I think too....they told me they dropped it....c'mon...

I had a similar issue with tire kingdom on my ford mustang. They actually replaced my wheel for me after some b*tching. Don't settle for anything less then a new wheel.

but on something like that you normally would NOT take the tire off the wheel. you'll just use one of those wax strings.. its like a 3min job..

even if it was the machine they use to take the tire off your scratches are on the wrong side of the wheel..

anyways go ask for a new rim..

edit: now that i look at it again looks like the dropped it and it rolled down the hill or something haha.. or went through a blender O.o... sorry =X

At least they owned up to the damage. Took my car in for service at a dealer and one of the techs must have used an impact wrench incorrectly. They carved a nice chunk of my wheel off inside the lug nut hole. They never told me about it. I washed my car the very next day and saw the damage. I am going to visit them on Wed. to see what will be done.

"Dropped it"....lol, it looks like they threw it off the roof. :(

Tell them you want NEW!

HAHAHAHA...I just called my local Infiniti dealer to ask the price on my rim. They told me 938.35 + tax for my 19x8.5 stocker. (thats for 1 rear wheel) WOW!?!?! I knew they were $$$$ but damn. I think this is going to make it harder for a new rim now...

rrpnow Jun 20, 2005 02:16 PM

well, that the money isn't your problem... tell them you brought the rim in when it was in good condition, now it looks like sh|t... either they buy you a new rim, or you take them to court... you would def win in court... so just threaten them, and you will succeed... lol

GT-Ron Jun 20, 2005 02:44 PM

You know, if they took damages from the techs' paychecks, I'm sure these places would suddenly be safe enough for all of us. ;)

It doesn't surprise me that it was "dropped", as they generally roll or toss the wheels out of the way. This technique must save them all of about 30-60 seconds. These guys think they're part of the Schumacher pit crew or something.

anotherg35 Jun 20, 2005 05:07 PM

The guys at America Tire (Bob and manager Dave) were really cool about it. They ordered me a new rim. I feel much better...
