Sad G's

Anyone else find it sad that some people spend thousands to mod their G and it ends up being slower or the same as stock? Large and/or chrome wheels and large speakers being the worst culprits.

No. Not everyone's priority is HP or speed. Some people would like a nice car with a banging sound system or some nice looking wheels than run 12 second quarter miles.

The only thing a banging sound system leads to is permanent inner ear hair cell death. It's like the idiots who smoke and think they're immune to the carcinogenic effects. Leading to lung carcinoma, prostate carcinoma, hypertension, coronary artery disease, type 2 diabetes, etc. IMO there are NO chrome wheels and VERY FEW cast (heavy) wheels that look better than stock.

To each his own, I say. You can't argue against permanent ear damage but that only happens if you play your music too loudly. Kudos to those who spend the big $$$ on aftermarket parts.
Sure they don't always net you much performance, but they sure are fun, and some aftermarket wheels and kits look so nice.

If i wanted a fast car, I wouldn't have bought the g35

hello randomness

everyone has their own theme for their cars. some like it stock, some like to
make their cars faster, some louder, some cooler looking, some just can't
afford to do anything, etc.

What I find sad is narrow mindedness (you'd fit in well on roadflys E46 M3 forum with an attitude like that). If I want to spend $xxxx on a stereo and $bbbb on heavy wheels, why would you care?

Also, I have heavy wheels and run a 14.2 (see sig). I'm 100% NA, think you can keep up? ;)

What would you have bought if U wanted a fast car?

Just curious.

A Corvette, Lotus, STi, even 350Z. There are dozens of cars out there for around 40K that can feed the need for speed. But the G isn't just about one thing or another - it combines quite a few things...which is why its so popular and why people think they are awesome cars and some wish they could afford them.

The OP may mean that some people do both, they get a 80lb system and 30lb wheels, then buy a truckload of performance mods and expect their butt or otherwise dyno to show miracles. In that case all these go fast mods will yield zero gains if you're lucky to not lose power. The truth is that this vehicle can be modded to be .3-.4s faster over stock but that's about it if you're staying N/A. I personally would rather buy a fast car from the factory than spend $5k on mods that will give me 40rwhp at peak. So I wouldn't go all out on my car, but then again I admire those who have done it and agree that stock cars are no fun at all when you can add a few things to make it look unique at least. What I don't understand though are all the people that buy mods just because "everyone else does" without seeing the big picture of how everything works together.

Now the stereo system comment was overkill, you should hear how aftermarket systems sound when they're nowhere near blasting, and the sound is still 10x better than stock.

All I'm saying is that the G was designed to be semi-fast with semi-good handling. I'm all for tasteful aftermarket parts, but some things just belong on a crappy handling car like an Escalade. Maybe sometimes I do feel like a judgemental BMW driver. :o

Blah blah blah

I love my 19" SF Winnings Volks
and
I Love my 10" W6 woofer (thanks to 4080) and custom amp rack

This thread is pointless....my G looks 5x better than stock...and the system will not ruin my hearing at all..its kept at a minimum....as for the rims..slower? alittle yes....does it make the car stand out? yes...do I care? No ....

But thanks for your useless opinion! :p
