break in advice, 10 miles away from 1000mi

OK so I've been good and kept my new G35 6MT under 4k rpms for 990 miles now. It makes sense not to take it all the way to 7 right after the 1000 mark, so could you guys give me some advice on how to ease my way past the break in period?

Break in is complete at 1200, I don't understand the reference to 1000.

i was under the impression that it went until 1000mi, i guess i stand corrected...

i also thought it was always 1,000 but guess not...

From the manual:

During the first 1,200 miles (2,000 km),
follow these recommendations to obtain
maximum engine performance and ensure
the future reliability and economy of your
new vehicle. Failure to follow these recommendations
may result in shortened engine
life and reduced engine performance.
Avoid driving for long periods at constant
speed, either fast or slow. Do
not run the engine over 4,000 rpm.
Do not accelerate at full throttle in any
gear.
 Avoid quick starts.
Avoid hard braking as much as possible.
Do not tow a trailer or haul a heavy
load for the first 500 miles (800 km).

after the break-in you still want to be a little easy. I would first recommend after the 1200 miles get an oil change. Then start to row through your gears a little. Take it up to 5 and 6k, under light acceleration. Don't floor it, just work your way up. After another couple hundred miles like that, let the 7k redlines begin.

Thanks guys... I'm getting a little antsy, but I'm sure all the patience will pay off. I take it into the dealer tomorrow to get the LEX clear bra put on and have them fix a defect in the stock tint. They'll be giving me a loaner sedan, so I'll take my built up anxiety on that instead. I hope they don't give me a G35x, as I had been hoping to rip some doughnuts in an empty parking lot. Also, incase the service guys get any ideas, I’m placing a note on the dash saying "please don't rev over 4k rpms", not that they'll even need to really drive it for the service I'm having done, but you never know... You only get one crack at breaking in the engine, and I drove mine home with 11 miles on it, so I'm being extra OCD, especially this far into the break in period.

lol bro, as soon as that odometer hits 1201, you need to find a long straight stretch of road with no traffic in sight, and then redline it all the way through 5th gear, with a 2nd gear chirp. That will complete the breakin period and you now may drive the hell out of your car. Thank you and goodnight...

there's two methods of break-in. hard and fast & slow and easy. hard and fast is supposedly to give you better engine performance..yadda yadda yadda. slow and easy gives you better longevity. going WOT on her up once in a while is good to clear the carbon build-up. your car is due for one :D

I thought it was 1000 miles as well.. Guess just have to wait a tad longer to break her in....

is it bad that i got my car with 25mi, and it has 125mi on it right now, but i've gone to maybe 5500 once and ripped thru the gears once or twice?
