3rd. No question. You can get yourself in more than enough legal trouble in 3rd.

I'd say 4th and 5th.
It gives enough juicy to push me further either on city or highway. I've down to 3rd once... pi**ed on my pants  3rd is just too much for me. kakaka :D |
While 2nd has always been my favorite in past cars, with this 6-spd it has to be 3rd. 2nd just doesn't seem to have the same sort of pull... ...or my clutch is slipping slightly during 2nd gear pulls. :p I find myself in 3rd and 4th the most around town... ...even at 40-45mph range while cruising (4th).
Can't wait to do the 3.917 gear swap, as 2nd and 3rd will really come alive and 4th will actually be more usefull around town. My only concern is highway cruising with it. I figure 70mph will translate to about 3500rpm in 5th and close to 3000rpm in 6th (?). While a 6-5 downshift will suddenly be adequate for most highway situations, I'm afraid any long-term speeding above 85-90 or so will simply produce too many revs to be a comfortable drive. With the OEM set-up, 6th has adeqaute pull for casual passing and 5th seems to be strong enough for anything more. I have yet to start a race at highway speeds, so I simply haven't gone for the 6-4 downshift. It only has 425 miles on it, so it should be noted that my experience thus far has been limited mostly to under the 4000-4500rpm range with a few runs up to 5000rpm. |
I do know 1st is my least favorite. Too much tranny noise. :D
