diff's between coupe and sedan - 6MT
aside from doors and room...
coupe has brembo, does sedan? what about suspension i know 280 v 260 hp and 270 v 260 torque |
Re: diff's between coupe and sedan - 6MT
Coupe 6mt get's these things that the sedan doesn't. Seat's with real side bolsters, LSD, larger brembo brakes and 20 more hp. (I'm sure their's more).
What is the same, The springs and struts on the sedan with sport suspension are the same as the coupe. It is the non sport suspension on the sedan that is different (of course all 6mt sedan's come with the sport suspension). The transmissions are the same, gear ratio's and final drive to. Unknow. Sway bar sizing. I've taken a dial caliper to mine, 33mm front 20mm rear. If I'm able to attend this month's bay area meet, I'll find out what the coupe's diameter's are first hand. Plan to do the same with a 350Z, I'll be surprised if their different. Ivry 6mt sed Injen CAI, 22" resonator 8X18 Enkei RPM2 45mm Kumho MX 245/40 clear corners |

seat bolsters?
does the sedan come with brembo's? what is diff between sizes i brakes (i guess ability to stop sooner)? |
Re: diff's between coupe and sedan - 6MT
No, just like my post say's, the sedan does not, in any form or package, get the larger brembo's that only the coupe 6mt gets.
The sedan seats offer very little side support on the lower seat or the upper part where you torso rest's. The coupe's seats are proper for a sporting car, with nice aggressive support to hold you in while cornering hard. The sedan's seats are not proper for a sports sedan, I should NOT have to dig my elbow into the seat to stay in it while pulling g's. I have better things to do. Re: diff's between coupe and sedan - 6MT
sorry for the confusion. you said larger brembo's. i didn't know if you meant smaller vs larger brembo's or just no brembo's

Re: diff's between coupe and sedan - 6MT
Ok, I see what you ment. The brembo's have larger rotor's vs the non brembo's brakes of the auto coupe and all sedans. Having brembo's also means 4-piston front calipers and dual piston rear calipers, vs single piston calipers front and rear.

Re: diff's between coupe and sedan - 6MT
and for those that dont understand what the # of pistons on a caliper means...
think of each piston as a clamp, which puts a clamping force onto the pad so that it sticks to the rotor and thus your car has BRAKES the more pistons, the more even the force is applied and also more clamping power, thus: Better braking distances, and less wear on the pads. -Rambo G35c 6MT DG/Willow |
Re: diff's between coupe and sedan - 6MT
To clarify:
NO Sedan gets Brembos. They are specific to 6MT Coupe ONLY. That said, it's not that big a deal - besides having pretty gold calipers inside your rims. According to Motor Trend's COTY article, the sedan stop nearly as fast as the coupe (115 ft. 60-0 vs. 112 ft). 2003 G35 Coupe 6MT Leather Premium, Aero "There is no spoon" |
Re: diff's between coupe and sedan - 6MT
The brembo's on the track Z and the 6mt coupe do have benefit's over the stantard brakes. Stopping once won't show the differance. Make several stop's back to back and you'll find out why the brembo 4 piston/2piston setup is better. Fade is not your friend.

Re: diff's between coupe and sedan - 6MT
To add to the, "what's the same" colum.
Sway bar diameters, 350Z, G35 coupe and sedan with sport suspension 33mm front 20mm rear. The non sport sedan likely has a smaller front bar diameter (might have a smaller rear bar to). Which may or may not have changed with the 2003.5 changes. I will measure one when I get a chance, a 2003.5 non sport sedan that is.
