I found this picture while browsing the Web - not sure if the picture implies the Crossfire looks like the G35C, or is as fast? (highly doubt that, the Crossfire only has 215hp). Anyhoo, thought I'd post the pic - hope this works.

It's the new Chrystler Crossfire. Nice looking car outside, but weak engine inside. Priced to compete with the 350Z, G35, RX-8.

Also the interior has A LOT of Merc. Benz crossovers...

Like they said, a Chrysler Crossfire. I believe almost everything but the styling is based upon a Mercedes-Benz E-class. Word from people with Dodge connections is that it's the nicest Chrysler built in a long time. RWD, 6 speed manual transmission available. If there was no such thing as a G35, I'd give the Crossfire a long look. It's downfall is the engine. Only 215 horsepower. Torque is rated at 230 ft-lbs though, and one thing in its favor is that it's 400 pounds lighter than a G. The end result is supposed to be a 14.8 second quarter mile. Definitely slower than a G, but it would have seemed pretty good for a $35k sports/luxury coupe before the G came along. Should be a driver's race against a 3-series. You could probably make some time just by taking off the stupid 19 inch wheels. And with Chrysler/Dodge's turbochargers bolted on, who knows?

In a G35-less world, I could see myself driving a Crossfire before a IS300 or 3-series. I think those weirdos who only buy American cars have a pretty good product on their hands, even if very little of it is actually American.

Yeah, I've seen a ton of those Crossfires!! They are actually made by Mercedes as well, in Germany and use german motor. Mercedes brings all their cars for the Southeast US through the post here in Jacksonville, and I pass their Southeast distribution facility everyday to and from work. B/c of this, all the Crossfire's also come in through that facilty. They fill 1/2 their parking lot with those things whenever ships come in. IMO, not bad looking, but I don't like that back.

Hey, I was one of those weirdos up until I bought my G! [img]/w3timages/icons/laugh.gif[/img] The G is the first foreign car I've ever owned. 10 years ago I was so pro-American in terms of cars, that I wouldn't even consider a foreign car. But what makes an American car is so blurry now, it doesn't even matter anymore. I saw this in my last 'American' car, my '96 Ford Contour, which I traded in for the G. The Contour was assembled in Mexico, had a German transmission, brakes from England, engine made in the U.S. but of English, German, and U.S. design, stereo from Brazil, speakers from England, struts from Germany, electrical motors from Germany and Japan, and so on. Oh, and the entire car was mostly designed in Europe. So that's today's 'American' car.

Oh, and when I looked at my friend's '99 Acura TL, it was more of an American car than my Ford! The TL was assembled in the U.S., and 90% U.S. parts content, versus only 80% in my Ford.

Even my American-as-Apple-Pie Corvette has an engine assembled in Canada, with heads cast in Mexico! [img]/w3timages/icons/shocked.gif[/img]

I was looking at the G and Z before I fell in love with the Crossfire. It isn't a slow car at all. Not AS fast as a G35, but depending on where you get your G 1/4 mile times as little as .2 seconds slower. When you consider that the Crossfire's handling and road grip are definitely superior to the G35, you have a nice little sports car. Plus there will only be about 10,000 Crossfires made a year as opposed to almost 40,000 for the G35.

I believe the motor in the Crossfire is the good old Mercedes 3.2 V6 used in all of benzes 320 models. Its a Damn good motor, pretty balzy in the E320 and in the ML320, so I wonder how it does in this lighter car.

The Prowler was the nicest Chrysler ever built. The Prowler looks will last a LONG time. Obvious by it's 40's hotrod influence. Very nice car. Fun to drive and pretty comfortable. Has better stereo controls on the steering wheel than the G as well. Too bad it's a Chrysler. I sold mine due to defects and shitty customer service. American car companies literally have the worst CS in the business. It reinforced my opinion of never buying an American car again.

The Prowler is a Plymouth, and don't you forget it! Screw Daimler for burying the best brand of the MOPAR three. Prowler = Plymouth. SRT4 = Plymouth. PT Cruiser = Plymouth (the "P" in PT actually stands for Plymouth). Those minivans are based on the Plymouth Voyager. The Plymouth PT Spyder would have been a S2000 beater if they weren't busy getting dirt kicked over them. The Plymouth muscle cars were the fastest among the affordable ones. Other than the Viper, what's Dodge made worth a damn since the Stealth except a bunch of bloated pickup trucks? Why are they allowed to live and put that stupid grill on everything?

The Stealth wasn't even attributed to Dodge engineering.. it was just a re-badged Mitsubishi 3000GT.

I have heard this car is pretty much an SLK with a Chrysler wrapper. Chassis, engine, everything. What sucks is, it's all based on the current-gen SLK which, while nice, is like 5 years old or more. I think the next-gen SLK is coming out next year.
