G35 C body lean

I was wondering if any g35c owners out their thinks that their is quite a bit of body leaning one way while turning corners. Also I have the 18" performance tires, are they suppose to squeek when corning at speeds of 35 MPH ? I'm not complainting because I think infiniti have built a awesome poorman's supercar here and I love it and I have only own it of 6 days now. Happy motoring all g35 owners.

Re: G35 C body lean

wow....the lean is virtually non-existant for me...
As far as the tire squealing goes at 35mph..... thats a pretty fast speed to take a turn! heh...also make sure your tires are not COLD and make sure you arent in 2nd gear while turning @ 35mph....you will drift and squeal like heck!

been there.....done that....gotten a ticket for it...... LOL

Man, if you think the Coupe leans, your last car must have been a ferrari or something. The coupe is remarkably flat around corners - a owing to its stiffness and rigidity, and it was one of the things I noticed when I first test drove it.

Re: G35 C body lean

I'd have to agree with the others man. Though I think there is room for improvement. I can only really "lean" the car when I'm pushing it hard through the twisties. I raced a mod'd WRX through some high speed bank turns the other day and the car only started to push on the corners after 60mph. But the handling over all in this car is awesome considering that it's stock. One of my friends whom had a 350z even said it felt less frantic and more stable than his 350z. As for the squeeking tires the Michillan Sport Tires on this car are pretty much an industry bench mark for handling and performance so maybe they were just too cold when you were trying your manuvers, yeah?

What kind of car are you coming from, Logical? That will determine quite a bit about your expectations.

If you think it leans too much don't take any fast turns, just drive straight, and you can go as fast as you want, or as in my case as fast as my coupe would go.
BY THE WAY,I DID NOT FEEL ANY ROLL,( LOL)
Edited by tbusguru on 07/09/03 02:53 PM.

Re: G35 C body lean

IMHO the car does lean. It's not as stiff as my E55 but is better than my old BMW328is. From my experience swaybars help a LITTLE, and replacing the struts with stiffer ones helps ALOT.

Re: G35 C body lean

of course it leans...

hell my Z leans!

Oh BTW, cold tires dont make any noise. They just lose grip!
The tire noise is actually engineered into the compound. After you get a feel for the suspension and tires, you can feel *AND* HEAR how much grip you've got left.

One thing I'll miss about the COLD NJ winter is the ability to do some crazy RWD hijinks. It was so easy to get the Z sliding that when it warmed up and the "summer" tires came into season, I'de learned to drive the Z like a 500HP 70s corvette with a live rear axle.

Ah well...I guess we'll still have rain in SD.

Back in 1992 at the age of 21 after graduating from California State University, I purchased a brand spanking new 1992 SUBARU SVX TOURING, 4WD FOR $32,650, MSRP BACK THEN WAS 35600.00. IT WAS ONE OF MY BEST AND WORST INVESTMENT IN A CAR, IT WAS AWESOME TURNS HEADS WHERE EVER I GO AND IT WAS PRETTY FAST AND IN THE RAIN 4WD WILL OUT RUN A CORVETTE WITHIN THE FIRST 1/4 MILES THEN HE'LL BLOW ME AWAY. DEPRECIATION WAS ABSOLUTELY AWEFUL, THAT'S WHY IT MY WORST AND BEST INVESTMENT BACK THEN, I HAD IT FOR 10 YEARS AND NOW I'M ROCKING WITH THE G.

sounds good man.....that subaru was a decent car.....it still turns heads! A fairly uncommon car.
Good luck w/ the G

Resident Corvette enthusiast stepping in here to correct some mis-information . Corvette's haven't had a live rear axle in them since 1962. I used to own a 1970 Corvette with a modified 454 big block that was producing about 550 gross hp. It had independent rear suspension (and 4 wheel discs with 4 piston calipers all around, I might add). Due to its massive torque and HP, and heavy front weight bias due to the large iron big block, the car had massive oversteer. UNTIL I put in an aftermarket adjustable anti-sway bar kit front and rear. Then I could dial in the suspension to be fairly neutral, except when you touched the throttle, which of course would put it in an oversteer condition again in a heartbeat. The torque in that car was unreal - even my Z06 can't touch it in the torque department.

Anyway, back on topic (sorry guys). I think the G corners very flat with minimal body roll. The suspension is really set up very well. I've said it before - I hate these Michelins, but they do grip pretty well. But there are much better performance tires out there, IMO. Also, I think the tires should be wider on this car.

Re: G35 C body lean

ok thanks for the clarification..... i too think that the wheels need to be wider, its too easy to chirp the tires even from 2nd to 3rd..... and this car only has 280HP, that shouldnt happen!

I'd say make it 10" for the rear wheels.....try to make as wide as possible to look like a Porsche
