I'm confused.

I'm not sure if my dealer has his facts straight. After reading on this forum that the power seats have no memory and that only the later 6MT models will have a center armrest, I asked him about these things. Here's what he said:

He said that he was absolutely certain that the 6MT model that they had back in November had a center armrest. (Currently, they had no other 6MT's on the lot to verify.)

He also assured me that although the power seats don't have separate memories for the two different ignition keys, the seat will automatically return to the previous position after pushing it forward to let someone into or out of the rear seat. He claims to have used this feature many times.

Is there any truth to what he's telling me, or is he being a typical salesman promising me everything just to make the deal?

Doug.

On my coupe, the seat returns only the seat bottom back, the recline on the seat back has to be manually adjusted. Its a minor annoyance. Also, there is no memory for the driver seat.

Re: I'm confused.

I bought a 6MT in November. Only the seat bottoms return to their original position (and slowly at that). You have to readjust the recline position. I am not sure about the tilt position on the driver's side (angle of seat bottom). Fortunately, I have very little traffic in my backseat. Also, no memory on the seat (but my dealer said it would have it).

Re: I'm confused.

I was just looking at a 6MT at the dealership today which arrived this week. No armrest.

What the others said about the seat is correct, the only memory is when accessing the back seat.

Re: I'm confused.

There has been a lot of confusion about this, and perhaps what i'm going to say will only cause more confusion.

I called consumer affairs and asked them about the armrest for the manuals. He asked if he could ask his technical guys and call me back when they had a definite answer. Well, he called me back today and this is what he had to say.

"Starting in January, all 6mt coupes will have an integrated armrest."

Knowing that my coupe would be built in January, I asked if this would affect mine. He said he did not know, but that the dealer would have eventual information on this and all previous coupes would be able to get the armrest if they wanted it. So, it looks like you might be able to have it either way!

Of course, I wouldn't trust everything that comes out of consumer affairs. For me, I just did it for the information, I didn't mind the fact that there is no center armrest (at least yet!) Who know when I put a couple thousand miles on the car though.
