For those who've done the MD plenum spacer..

I'm getting mine done (finally!) on tuesday and am all giddy - quick question to sate my curiousity - did you notice a big change in the sound of the engine/exhaust? I"m not talking about like when people put on a k&n and strain their ears and go "well, i *think* i hear a louder noise...maybe....possibly....", but when you actually hear a differnce, like if you threw on an exhaust setup.

DEFINITELY! Not only did I notice the louder roar, but my wife did (and that's says alot). There's this one stretch of road I take to work every morning, and out of habit I take my car to redline as fast as possible. So the morning after I installed my 1/2 MD spacer, I took that same road with my wife and gunned the hell out of it and the engine just came alive at around the 3400 RPM! I also have a Z tube w/K&N filter, but to me, it was not "IF" I heard a difference, because my wife was there to also witness the sound of the roar.:D

I installed the MREV, and I did notice a difference. I noticed a small difference in the exhuast (louder but same tone). The big difference for me is the induction noise. HUGE difference there, eve my girlfriend noticed!

^ +1 . . . Yup! The induction noise definitely has changed for the louder. I noticed the difference after the install prior to any road testing. After the install with hood raised and the car idling . . . I blipped the throttle a few times. Man, you can hear all of the extra air rushing pass the throttle body.

Yes unquestionably louder and in a satisfying angry sort of growl way. Especially at WOT.:D

The real question is whether or not you can feel more power? I'm on the fence for this mod and would rather put the money into replacing the stock speakers if you don't notice any power gains.

it's pretty hard to argue with almost total parallel shifts in the dyno curve

^+1 . . . Well said. ;)

I have the 1/2 in. MD spacer gain is about 8-9hp. This is average gain for this install well worth the money I spent on the mod. The spacer and my sway bars are the best bang for the buck install I ever did for my car. Just my .02 cents your opinion can vary.

CarFanatic56 Jan 3, 2006 03:43 AM

does the 5/16th MD spacer also provide a sound change?

Yes it does but not as loud as the 1/2 in. spacer. Get the Iso Thermal kit together with the 5/16th makes a world of difference in the performance category.
