Shop can't seem to match paint

Anybody have this problem? Scratched the rear bumper of my '05 Brilliant Silver coupe, not really serious. But it's got to be perfect. Shop is on their
4 th shoot they claim it's trial and error process because they can't rely on Infiniti paint info. Or do I have a bummer on my hands and try another shop.
Thanks in advance.

Not sure about the BS, but the shop had to experiment to get my IP looking right. They did this, however, on test cards before ever spraying the car.

Some testing is normal. And unless they know the number of coats that Infiniti uses of each layer, then experimentation is what they have to do. Just knowing the proper paint color doesn't mean a lot if you don't know how many coats are needed.

Another factor your bodyshop is probably contending with is the difference between the urethane bumper and the metal panels. There's simply going to be some difference between the two if you use the same process for the entire car, as Infiniti did.

My IP looks like a very close match. It's not perfect, as I can see a slight variation between panels when under a fluorescent light.

GT-Ron, you are right on. Shop said the y match the color perfectly with the plastic panel under the doors, but that did not match the metal trunk.
Sounds like a tricky procedure.
Thanks for the input.

Its always hard to work with White and silver paints. Most shops will get it as close as possible but it will never be the same. My IP came from factory with different color bumpers to body. You can tell the difference.

Its just how good the body shop is that is all. If they can make a decent match you are good. I usually tell my body guy to match the parts in direct sunlight vs inside. Most shops do it on the inside.

yea two different shops matched my BS color perfect. I have had 2 minor hits on my car, and two diff shops worked on mine and both got the paint matched.

It can be hard to match colors, it just takes time. How bad was the scratch? They should have been able to fix the problem without painting the full bumper.

Scratch was not that bad, but noticable even from far. Shop guy recommended shooting the whole bumper. Previous quote shop did the same saying silver would look entirely different if only a portion was shot.
Thanks

Not true, if the scratch was on the back they could have fixed that part and shot color on the back side. Then blended the sides of the bumper. But oh well whats done is done.

Having the same prooblem with my IP lip spoiler. The guy at the body shop said that infiniti probobly only sprays once. And he sprayed my rear lip spoiler a few times. I feel like the Lip Spoiler it MORE WHITE. It's been driving me CRAZY!!!! Anyone think it will fade a little bit with the sun light???

Sorry but no. These colors can be a biatch to match. Im taking a PPG color class very soon cause the shiet gets to me also. I fight it all the time.
