Any 2005 G's experiencing inner tire wear on the fronts?

My biggest concern with my G was the rear tires wearing unevenly. After 15k miles my rear tires are wearing perfectly but the fronts have major wear on the inside of the tires. I never even thought to check the fronts. I am feeling like an idiot because I just noticed this today. Anyway, is anyone else experiencing this on their 2005 or 2006 G coupes? I guess that the dealer would have to fix the camber or the toe? Any idea what they would charge $?

Well i have an 03 and yes definetly i get major uneven tire wear on the inside of the front tires...dont know why because i dont hit pot holes or anything, plus ive had the tires aligned twice and didnt make a difference...might be a car issue

I think all Gs and Zs have that issue. I have an '04 6MT. You can do the alignment, and see if that reduces the inside wear, and on top of that you can consider rotating/flipping the tires. In case you don't know, you have to rotate the wheels from one side to another, and then dismount the tire, turn it so the inside is now outside, and remount the tire and balance it. My dealer charged me $60 to do just fronts. Take care.

Yeah, I definitely have that issue as well. I just recently noticed it as well and I am at about 22k miles. I just never really thought about it until recently. My rears were done after about 12k or so, but my fronts are still going, however extremely worn on the inside. I should probably think about replacing them very soon as its getting pretty bad. Seems like a chronic issue based on the responses. I heard that our cars have negative camber stock for better handling. I would have to say I agree considering the wear I have on the insides.

I had same problem. At 75k I put on d-spec shocks/struts & g35 h-tech springs, aligned wheels, new tires. Everything should be good to go. See how they wear.

2005 and yup mine have the same problem.

mykmar10 May 15, 2006 06:45 PM

I have that problem also.

I have a 2004 and have the same problem with the inside fronts feathering. This is common on just about every Coupe. It is a design flaw because my car has always been within specs on the alignment. I don't believe that being within spec alone will ever resolve this issue. This is a problem that should be taken up with Infiniti Consumer Affairs so that there will either be a TSB or a recall. It is not acceptable and our tires are not cheap. There is only one solution. Complain!

Camber

Isn't this issue we all have a result of the camber setting? There is nothing we can do about it, except maybe install an adjustable camber kit.

I have a 4.5-6mt coupe and have perfect tire wear...BUT I have mebbe 500 miles on the freeways..the rest is all mountian roads (read twisty as hell). If anything the outer edges of the fronts wore a tad quicker, most likely from the factory understeer and the fact that I tend to push it in the corners.
I feel that this car was set up more in mind of the twistys than the straights and driving it on mostly twisty roads has helped my tire wear even though I wore out my first set at 13000, all 4 were wore pretty even inner to outer cord.

03 6MT May 16, 2006 07:59 PM

Yup, same problem.
