I really don't like run my G35s at 40mph
you know how many streets have speed limit at 35, local traffic. my G35s runs 40mph at rpm 2000, engine roars and sounds terribly and I can not step on gas because the traffic. I feel the transmisson get stuck in between 2 gears (may be 2-3 ?) I have been driven my 5-MT maxima for past 12 years, may be is me not used to AT any more? do all AT work like this? you know, the low speed keep you gear down but high rpm wants to gear up the transmission.

Not that I have a G yet but from everything I have seen this might be just the place to utilize that manual shift feature. You could put the transmission into the gear you would like to be driving in rather than have the auto select for you.

I used to drive around town in '3M' in my Sedan. and either '4M' or '5M' on the hwy.

Re: I really don't like run my G35s at 40mph
The G is the first automatic I've owned for commuting back and forth to work. I have to say that the transmission does not bother me one bit. I had to clutch it in Austin, Texas traffic for 10 years in my Civic. I am a much calmer and patient driver since getting the G. I will never go back to a standard again. It is a shame because I really wanted a G35C, but only in a 6MT. A car of that caliber needs to be a stick. I just can't take 30mph stop and go traffic 25 minutes staight anymore with a stick. Man, I love my G ride!

Re: I really don't like run my G35s at 40mph
Hey Mike, I agree with you on that and it's a fine car whatever way you equip it. I love my A/T Coupe as much as the 6M/T guys love theirs. As you've said the car is more sporty with 6M/T but for some it's just not for them, even not necessary.
To each his own. The car IMHO doesn't "need to be a stick" for me to have fun. It's all a matter of 'choise' don't you think? I don't look down my nose at someone who bought their car their way and don't pay too much attention to ppl who insist other's car's should be equipped the same. I say peace to all and enjoy your G whichever way it is. Gsedanman--in Silverstone Coupe clothing.
Edited by gsedanman on 01/16/03 07:04 PM.
|

A-men G-Brother. That is good news to hear. Maybe when I'm ready for a G35c, I will remember your words about AT vs 6MT. Kids fit too well in the sedan, and I'm afraid if I get a coupe, the wife will run off with it and leave me the kids and Mini-van. It's funny how my sedan can keep my marriage together.....G35 Sedan....Marriage Counciler....Ha Ha Ha!

Hey Mike, My bad. I wasn't suggesting you get a Coupe. Not by any means. The Sedan is a fine car, and in some ways I'll miss the extra room in my 'Garnet Baby' (& memory seat!)
And hey, if it can keep everyone happy in the family then it's a bonus. There's not a lot of diff. between the 2 cars anyway from what I've seen. My A/T vs M/T statement applies to both Sedan and Coupe so congrats and enjoy. Gsedanman--in Silverstone Coupe clothing. |
