2 dirty filters
 

It's been 1 month since I've had the G35, and so far it's treating me well. I had a little spare time a couple days ago and today to do a couple filter replacements, one for the air filter and the other for the cabin air filter. The replacement process isn't too bad for both of them, although removing and replacing the air filter was a real PITA given the tight fit of the housing and its interface without much wiggle room. The cabin air filter took about 45 min since I took my time removing various parts just to get behind the glovebox. You can see from the pics below how dirty these old filters were. Even some of the pleated fins on the cabin filter completely deteriorated! :eek:

HOLY! those things were filllllllllthy! :eek: and i thought my in-cabin was dirty when i replaced it!

Good move checking the filters, Lexusk8......not everyone keeps theirs serviced the way they should....:)

When I was in high school or college, I probably would have taken the time to change these filters in the car myself. But, I wouldn't have been to afford the equivalent car back then :)

I just do it every 18 months, or 15000 miles, when I have those scheduled services. I guess my dealership doesn't overcharge by as much as some I've seen posted.

Looking at those filters it makes you think....what the hell is in the air.

Good job of checking your filters. I guess that the previous owner did not bother to check either unit. I trust that you are enjoying your G. ;)

Actually it may not be deterioration... other members have had pests like rodents make nests in that area. Those fins look chewed on...

i maintain my cabin filter with a vacuum cleaner and a few drops of zaino leather conditioner...keeps the new car smell

I do my engine air filter every 10,000 miles and I'm amazed at how dirty it is, I think 15,000 miles is too long of a change interval for this small filter.
