Playing CD-R's in CD player

Just got my G35 and I was reading about people having trouble playing CD-R's in the CD player is this true, how many people are having trouble?

Re: Playing CD-R's in CD player

My service manager says that, officially, it can't play CD-R's, and they might cause the player to jam.

You don't want your player to jam, mine did on Jan 8th (though I wasn't using CD-R's, just standard store-bought music CD's), and they finally got a replacement radio in for me today (Feb 6). They're swapping it out tomorrow morning. I have the Bose system, which is apparently backordered. The base system supposedly doesn't have a big jamming problem, and isn't backordered.

No problems with CDRs. I had a CD out from the library once that refused to load.
I can't see that CDRs would cause the player to jamb unless it has one of those applied labels. The player should simply refuse to play it because it can't read the data if it otherwise has a problem.

I agree with your logic, I'm just passing on the little gem that my service advisor dropped on me. My wife's Jeep can't play CD-R's very well, but it certainly has no problem spitting them back out.

Re: Playing CD-R's in CD player

My only problem is that the CDRs can confuse the player. It starts on track 1 but decides it doesn't want to play that one and randomly plays another. This only happens using CDRs. It will sometimes pick another disk entirely after playing half a song off a CDR.

I use the Memorex Black cd-r's and they have worked flawlessely...

I think that if people label their CDrs they have more of a chance getting stuck becuase of the adheasive.

My suburban hates CDRs with labels they won't play at all-GM deck though.

Re: Playing CD-R's in CD player

In my 6th disc, it makes a ticking sound along with the music. It's happened with different CDs, but doesn't make that noise when I play those CDs on another player...weird.

It's still a G thang!!

cd-r's work fine for me .. perhaps there is problems when burning the cd so the cd player won't play . try using a program called NERO ... it has one of the best wizards i've seen and it helps u thru the burn process with no trouble .. and it will tell u if the cd burned correctly or not . so that a good sign as well ..

Re: Playing CD-R's in CD player

i use a yamaha 24x burner with fujifilm cd-r's. IT came packaged witth the nero software and works flawlessly. I find that fujifilm and memorex have the best compatability rates among cd-playing devices. Verbatin has come out with new vinyl cd-r's but i havent tried them yet. They are supposed to offer better compatability, even with the oldest cd-rom's. If your using a burner, i would opt for yamaha or plextor. They usualy rate the highest, and yamaha has a mode called "audio master" where the copies are better than the originals . Well, thats my 2 cents worth of advice

Re: Playing CD-R's in CD player

FYI...I tried 4 different kinds of CDs burned from two different burners and apparently the only CD that works (I haven't tried the Fuji or Memorex though) was Maxell CD-R Pro...they play fine burned from either of my burners...no problems playing on any cd player, obviously including the Bose in my G.
