Car won't start after headlight retrofit. HELP!!
I was retrofittin Q45 projectors on my 04 X and when all was done, I turned the key to start the engine and it wouldn't start. All I hear is clicking noise as I turn the key. All other electrical function seems to work. What I didn't do as I was retrofitting was unhooking the battery. I did connect one headlight assembly at a time to check for alignment but the other was disconnected. So could it be that? Could I have blown a fuse? The other is that I left the car door open all night long. Please help!!!!

check to see if you have a dead battery

BY the way where is the fuse box????

It is not recommended to jump modern cars off of each other. You need to use a battery charger or a booster pack or you can fry your ecu.

YOu could take your battery down to autozone and they'll check it out for free, even charge it if needed for free.

Sorry to hear about your loss it has to be the battery the fuse will not stop the car from starting. Get pixs of the retro up asap and again good luck to you.

Just type "Jump starting new car" in google search. If they show you how to jump start they have a disclaimer about newer cars. Considering what it would cost to replace an ECU I wouldn't take the chance.

Your search - "Jump starting new car" - did not match any documents. :bowrofl: |
I took out the quotes and this is the closest thing that I could find after reading 3 different articles.
" Always check your owners manual before jump-starting a car. Some new cars have special 'jump-start lugs' where jumper cables are attached rather than to the battery cables. These allow the potentially damaging surge of current to bypass the electrical system (and all those fancy, new onboard computers)." |
If you have 60k on the stock battery I would get a new one. Here in Phoenix we are happy to get 2-3 years out of them!
So you did a Q45 retro. I would love to see some pics of that. I was going to do those until I found out they were only low beam so I went with TL's. I also wasn't sure they would fit. |
