Trunk won't open from keyfob or button on the dash, ideas?

Last night I loaded up my car with my camera gear and presents for Christmas party. When I got to my friends place, I tried to grab the stuff from the trunk but no response with the trunk release on the keyfob. I couldn't hear the pop sound of the latch disengaging. The button on the dash didn't work either. I fiddled around with the switch in the glove box, tried the keyfob and button on the dash for a while and nothing. I finally had to get my friend to reach in through the ski pass through and pull the anti kidnapping pull tab to release the trunk. I have booked an service appointment with the dealer, but they won't be able to see me for a few days. Any ideas?

Fuse?

I believe this is a pretty common issue. My car does it all the time. Just put the key back in the ignition and turn the ignition on and the switch will work again.

You need a new harness. I had it replaced at the dealership. Cost me an arm and an leg. Chances are it is not a fuse. This happened to me a month ago and it is very annoying especially when there is no outside trunk release on these cars.

you need to go in the glove compartment and switch the button on. and you should be good to go.

First, you don't have to be Stretch Armstrong and use the "accidentally locked in trunk pull handle"--there's a smaller wire with a small black plastic tab very close to the pass thru port whose purpose is to open the trunk if the electrics don't work.

Second, try putting a test light on the trunk lock actuator to see if it's a bad actuator or a wiring problem. If the light lights that's good, just get an actuator and install.

Thanks guys, the dealer had the car for most of the day today and finally got it fixed. Turns out to be a wiring issue in the trunk. The guy said that the wire split or something.
