Just my .02
In the long run it's your car, get what you want.

+1... you could find a front on here for a decent price.. get the OEM plastic sills painted. it'll save you tons.. and use the rest of the money plus whatever you want to save more for the rims. It's a good way to go about getting the best of both worlds. And later, if you want the whole kit, Get the rear and sills once you get the dough. I'm doing the same thing

IMO body work is the absolute last thing to have done. you do not want to have a nice new bodykit, only to have it scratched up or damaged in any way by a shop or dealership when you are taking car in and out for other mods. get all other mods you plan on doing out of the way first i.e. motor, suspension, wheels and interior. then if there is any damage to the front lip, side skirts, etc. it won't really matter as you will be having it replaced in the future. when all other mods are done, get the bodykit you want and have a really good detail. it will be like having a new car!

I voted for the body kit I still think that the Nismo is the best looking full body kit for the 1st Gen. It's poly urethane, comes painted from the factory and the fit and finish are up to factory standards. It will look just fine with 17" wheels and there are always rims for sale in the market place. I've always purchase rims, tires and springs/shocks together as a pair so the rim and suspension mod is going to cost you just as much or more as the bodykit. If you stay on the look out for rims you'll find what you are looking for that's a mod that I wouldn't rush into getting but you can't go wrong with getting the kid out the way.
