THE DAY HAS COME!!!

Hey guys,

The day has come where I can put my car specs on my sig line at the bottom of every post. I'm picking up my G today!!!! (Probably after work though). Few questions, what should I look for besides the first aid kit, remote key, spare tire, toolkit, and any other accessories that come with the car? Just so I dont forget (or my dealer for that matter). I want to make sure I get everything with the car as I'm suppose to.

My second question is about the break-in time. I'm in Canada, what speed (km/h) would be appropriate for the next month or two? Is there any do's or don't that I should be aware of?

My last question is, whats the best way to preserve the new car smell? What air freshners do all of you guys use in your cars? Lemme know.

Thanks.

Hey Grewper, Big day huh? congrats dude. Was it a long wait? and are you in GTA? Where?
Just look for the Owner's manual and read from cover/cover.
It tells you everything in there.Your salesperson should give your car a 'once over' with you b4 you leave too.
Town driving is good for break-in, just keep the rpms down below 4k there and on the hwy. (and no long trips or cruise control.)

That smell will go in due time, but I've found if I don't eat pickled eggs it helps.
Don't forget to post pics in our Rides Section. Happy reading and let us know how things go.

Hey grewper!!! :)

Me too, I'am going to pick my G35 sedan today. It's black on black with aero and premium. Exactly the same as yours except for the exterior color. I'm in Montreal and I'm taking it from Meridien Infiniti. I'm really excited! :) Congratulation man ! :)

Grewper, congrats on your new ride. Your salesman should walk through with a complete introduction to the car. You should receive a kit with all the essentials provided. I did not get a first aid kit.

As for break in, gradual acceleration, gradual braking, and do not exceed 4000 rpm. Follow your manual.

As for the new car smell, some autosupply places sell an air fresher called "new car smell."
Good luck with your new ride. I share your excitement.

You gonna love this car!

Re: THE DAY HAS COME!!!

To all you advocates of 4,000 RPM limit during the break in period. Where in the manual does it say "DO NOT EXCEED 4,000 RPM"??? In summary the manual states no full throttle acceleration and not to drive at a constant speed for the first 1,500 miles. Of course, I do not think you will go much above 4,000 rpm in automatic without using full throttle.

I say you enjoy your G, don't abuse it and everything will be OK.

Enjoy your G.

No first aid kits in the Canadian Gs.

Just ask for it and you will get one...that's what I did.

Blue, Actually it does say in my Coupe O/M not to exceed 4k rpm.On page 5-17 of starting and driving it gives a list of what to avoid for 1200miles (2000 km). Perhaps this just pertains to the Coupe, but I think it's a good idea anyway. JMHO

Yeah...whatever GSM said. I remember reading about the 4000rpm in the manual.

hi chinee, I'm sure blue was talking about the Sedan manual. And I can't remember what it says about breakin.
Despite what either manual says, I don't think the cars should be babied or abused----just driven for 1200 miles or so b4 they get a 'whuppin'.

Hi,

I was told by my dealer no going over 4000 RPM or 70 MPH. Guess which is harder not to do! I'm limiting myself to going around corners without breaking, just to see how much I can get away with.

Re: THE DAY HAS COME!!!

I think there's only one manual. My sedan came with a manual that breaks out differences between the coupe and the sedan where appropriate.

Re: THE DAY HAS COME!!!

Just checked my sedan's manual and the info is on the same page as GSM's, 5-17. "During the first 1,200 miles... yada yada yada. Do not run the engine over 4,000rpm." then some more yada yada yada.

ryoken may be right, looks like there's only one manual for both coupe and sedan... another cost cutting move by Infiniti so they could offer a high performance car that many of us could afford!

And I did what GSM suggested, neither baby it nor abuse it; I doubt that the drivers at the factory and dealerships baby our G's when they're loading and unloading the trucks etc.

Enjoy the ride!
