Don't Buy Gas on May 19th ::email::

I got this email today. It's worth a shot. Besides, Wed.'s is one of the worst days to buy gas here in New York anyway.

Here's the text from the email:

IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.

AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES.

THEREFORE MAY 19TH HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT UP THEIR behind " DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE THAT DAY.

THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.

WAITING ON THIS ADMIINSTRATION TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?

REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.

SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE MAY 19TH A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

Not sure if this will work since people will buy gas on tuesday or on thrusday, in that case no effect to the gas prices that much if no one buys it on wed....but its worth a shot.

not gonna do anything..i think the gas would drop if NOBODY buy gas for a whole week in the US...just because then the demand will be low for 1 week...but then again...is it possible? nope...you have to understand...its not the gas company that are shooting up the price......the demand is high...the supply is low...nothing much you can do about it...other than not using gas...or hope they will pump more gas out

Not that I needed that website to tell me something that is only common sense. The oil companies don't care when you buy the gas only that you buy the gas. If everyone didn't drive their car for one day that would have a huge impact but of course that isn't going to happen. Or if people stopped buying gas guzzling SUV's and gas guzzling high performance sport sedans. Whoops that's kind of us :)

BTW this is GWB's fault show your displeasure in November with a vote for Kerry. The oil companies are merely passing along the higher cost which is related to instability in the middle east which has been caused by you know who.

This gay chain letter spam comes out every year for the last 10 years just ahead of Memorial Day. It probably started as an internet hoax/chain letter.

While we're at it, let's lobby our congressional representatives to repeal the law of supply and demand. Better yet, let's outlaw profit and free enterprise. That'll fix everything.

If we stop buying gas for one year might work

Just ask yourself this. For a multi-billion dollar company that measures it's profit monthly and/or quarterly, how is shifting (because let's face it.. you're gonna buy gas eventually) your gas purchase by a few days going to affect them? It isn't.

From Takuyaah:
"demand is high...the supply is low"

Thats not true...the supply is not low. They made everything up just to raisew the price. And i think we should have some people regulating the price for gas.

Regulating energy costs? lol, look what it did for California. No thanks. Even if we wanted to I don't think we could.
OPEC sets the supply and demand drives the price.

supply is low when they decide that they don't want to pump as much gas as we want from the ground man....they (OPEC) or something decided that they wanna enforce the regulation now...thats why we have this whole thing....
i know there's more oil in the ground...but they didn't pump it up..thats why the supply (available) is low

The supply of oil is finite. It's just a choice as to whether we make it low now, or low later. We can't cry when our gas prices skyrocket, then hug baby seals when the gov't wants to drill for more oil in places that we think are too pretty. I don't want to hear a single tree-hugger b*tch about their oil prices. Oh, and as for the situation now-- Don't forget China, people.
