I'm getting a G35 Sedan Manual. And i was just lookin at standard options. What is the different between Stability control and traction control? Can someone please explain in detail

traction control has to do with wheel spin and torque/HP put to the ground

while stability control has to do with steering the car with in its body dynamics(like body roll or yaw).

They usually go hand and hand, like the G35 just has VDC (vechicle dynamics Control) which does both traction control and stability control.

i read a g35 review and somewhere in it they said that if you have a 6MT you sacrifice either the stability control or the traction control, u can't have both is what they said if you have a manual tranny i think u sacrifice the stability control is this possible???? can't find the article anymore

the car comes standard with both. Stability/traction control are controlled by a botton called VDC. Turn it off and have fun.

kmckis1029 got it right. Basically traction control is the exact opposite of anti-lock brakes. Traction control gets you going in low traction conditions by pulsing the wheel that starts spinning. Stability control keeps you going in a set direction. The most common way for stability control to work is to lightly (or strongly) brake an INDIVIDUAL wheel to keep the car going on a set path.

Exactly opposite to Klubbheads, I NEVER (ok, 99.9% of the time) recommend turning off VDC. VDC works quicker than a driver can, and a driver certainly doesn't have the ability to brake an individual wheel. You will always hear stories about people saying with VDC on they would have got in an accident so they never drive with it on, but 99% of the time VDC will only help, not harm you. If you want more opinions on VDC, just do a search, the topic has been beat to death almost as much as which oil is best :)
