Why do my front rims get dirty fast and my back wheels dont?? Please help
Hello everybody. I have a 2004 G35X model. Whenever i clean my car, i also clean my rims so that they are spotless and so that they have no dirt on them what so ever.
When i go for a drive a few minutes later, every time i brake, my front rims get dirty really fast. And my back rims never get dirty. Why does this happen? I dont know if it gets dirty when i drive or if i break. My cousin has a 2004 G35 model and his front wheels never get dirty like mine. Is it because mine is a X model?? Please help me out, i have no clue what is wrong. |
I have the same problem on my 05x- I think the brakes are applied harder in the front so there is more brake dust....?

next time switch to hawk hps pads. a lot less dust.

I went with the hawks and have very minor brake dust. |
lol
Ever notice how the front brakes are bigger than the rears on every car and motorcycle? For stability reasons, the fronts do the majority of the stopping and therefor create more dust. |
Get a good wheel sealant and wash them down every few days if wanna keep them clean.

if you notice on VWs and audis, they calibrate the brakes so that the rears take more of the brunt so you'll notice that instead of the fronts, the rears are way dirtier. my old jetta was like that.

brake dust for the older gens = aggressive pads to achieve the world class brake distance numbers. Willing to give that up? Then go to a less aggressive pad and get less dust (and less brake performance.) You could try project mu pads. Reportedly, very good and less dust. Other than that, you have to choose.
Or upgrade to the bigger brake setup like I did :) |
I have the same problem on my 04 using OEM pads. I guess the only solution would be to upgrade to an 05 brake system.

june 30, eh? hopefully i get back in town in time....

you might have diffrent type of pads in the front. I use ceramic Hawk pads and get minimal dust in all rims.
I used to have that problem on my 05, turned out that the original owner had diffrent pads on front that on rear. Swiched all of them with Hawk ceramic pads and now they spotless lol |
yeah 03-04 brakes dust ALOT, you cant really do much but use different pads. They upgraded them in on the 05 RWD and all 06 models.

If your rears did equal or more work, you'd constantly lock them up under hard braking. But in terms of model specific probs...the 03-04 OEM pads are notorious for dusting. You can swap to a different pad, or switch to the 05+ (except 05 x) brakes. They are larger in diameter and feature dual piston front calipers...but use a less aggresssive pad so they don't dust at all really. |
all u need r ceramic pads u can get them at auto zone ultra ceramic and u will not get any dust thats the only thing i have change and i get no dust its the best with no dust
