brake lights don't work...help...
I failed inspection for one thing. None of the rear brake lights (including spoiler light) light up when I press the brake pedal. They gave me 48 hours to get it fixed because of the seriousness of the problem!
I don't think it's the bulbs themselves because like I said, none of them work. That would be a big coincidence for all 3 to burn out together. I recently had my pads replaced. Is there a sensor that the mechanic perhaps missed?!? thanks in advance! |
most likely it's the brake light switch, he messed with while doing the brake job. Could be an easy fix,
See page BR-6 for location of the switch: http://www.g35frenzy.com/downloads/2...anual/F/br.pdf PS: CHECK THE FUSE!!!! |
Take a look at the wiring, it could just be crappy wiring and that last bump you went over might of loosened it. My friend had a spoiler installed in his civic and he went over a bump, the spoiler light stopped working because the wiring actually got loose.

+1 check your fuses
Also, check under the hood and see if any plugs are disconnected. If he followed the correct procedures for bleeding the brakes, you're suppose to disconnect the VDC actuator. He may have disconnected the wrong plug, or more plugs and forgot to reconnect them. If all of that is good, I'd bet it's the brake switch behind the pedal. |
Thanks for the help. I checked the stop light sensor over the pedal-it's not that. I checked the fuse-it's fine.
I was told it might be a wheel speed sensor. What is that? and where is it located? How can I tell if it's causing the problem? |
just pop off the light and check to see if there is current going to the lights. Very weird that all would just stop if it's not a fuse.
|
To be sure, you checked the fuse behind the battery for the lights?
Do your parking lights work? There are two pin switches down there for the brake. Are they both still plugged in and working? |
Well today I replaced the stop light switch and scanned the car for engine and brake codes. 1805 came up and "pressure sensor circuit" !@##$???
After reseting the ecu to take the abs, slip, and traction lights off the dash, the brake lights starting working again. went for reinspection and passed. done. thanks again! |
Strange...
