Trying to pick a tire (Yes, I know. I'm sorry)
I know. There have been about 3,405,349 threads like this recently, etc... etc...
But this is really driving me nuts, and I need all the help I can get, so I'm relying on the knowledge of my Sedan driving brethren. I'm going to be putting some 19's on the G. They are 19x8 +30 I'm sitting on revised Z suspension right now. I may go lower, but it won't be for quite a while if I do at all. I've got it boiled down to two tires, but I can't decide between them. I'm looking at getting either http://www.discounttiredirect.com/pr...hanhz9.ang.jpg Hankook Ventus V12 Evo K110 in a 245/40/19 or http://www.discounttiredirect.com/pr...nithz6.ang.jpg Nitto NT NeoGens in a 245/35/19 Now here's my dilemma: 245/40 Hankooks: Pro: 40 series fills wheel well better Con: 40 seres makes wheel look smaller than 35 Pro: 40 seres protects better from potholes bending wheel Con: cost $63 more for a set. Pro: comes with $50 rebate Con: have to wait on freaking rebate Pro/Con: Hankook? I've read good things about them in C&D, but the guy at discount said they weren't all that :dunno: 245/35 Nittos: Pro: 35 seres looks awesome on 19s Con: I'm afraid it will make too much wheel gap and then I'll want lower Pro: Cheaper, and I don't have to fool with rebate Con: Bend one wheel and they're not cheaper anymore Pro: They're Nittos and made for Neg camber Con: I'm just really worried about the 35s :banghead: Pro/Con: I don't know if these are better or worse than the Hankooks even if they were the same size :dunno: So there's where I am. What do you guys think? Any input at all would be helpful. I would especially appreciate it if any of you guys have first hand experience with these tires, or with either of the sizes mentioned on Z suspension. I'm putting a poll up too. Thanks for putting up with my OCD. |
most def the nittos..
|
I would go with the Hankook they will give you a much better ride. The Nitto's are loud. That is it. I have heard nothing but good things about the Hankook. BTW Nittos molds run bigger than normal.
|
Dont listen to the guy at the shop, the Hankook V12s are great tires. How much more ar the Falkens 452's? They are good tires also . Though I forgot how much more they were over the Hankooks.
|
^I had Falken 452s on my Trans-Am. They were ok, but didn't really have enough bite.
They're a few bucks cheaper than the Hankooks. --edit: Oh wait, I forgot. Screw the Falkens... they don't have the $50 rebate. |
Look for ones that are black and round n00b! hahaha!
I run 35s front(245) and back(255) and no issue with skinny sidewalls/bent wheels. Not running staggered? You are right the 40s will fill the wheel gap a hair better. But the answer to that is spelled C-O-I-L-S. |
^Wow Wayne. I KNEW I would get that response from Blain, but I wasn't expecting it from you :D
Like I said in the post. I have no immediate plans to go any lower. I also decided not to run staggered because I did on the TA and not being able to rotate tires is just annoying. I may opt to space the wheels for a more flush fitment later on, but I really don't want to deal with a staggered setup. |
lol coils, I personally got A/S tires with high tread life, I wanted to get a summer tire but since most of my driving is highway I just got a nice DD tire. (Conti DWS) I have OEM Eagle RS-A tires and I cant wait to get rid of them! I got around 25k(estimated) miles on them 3/32nds all around.
|
sheesh.... you'd think you were a noob or something.
Protecting yours rims is a good thing. Trust me. :o |
^I am a n00b :o
|
Then go with the 40s. The 35s will look small. I found a pic of 245/35s all around and that was my impression. Can't recall whose car it was.
Grace, your quote in Ashley's sig slays me. :bowrofl::bowrofl::bowrofl: I think we're one closer to being even on keyboards owed. |
^hehe..:D
Ash, you don't want to look like a 4wd. Fill in the wheel well. Just make sure you're not going to rub. |
Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta
best tire I've ever used. Good wear, good grip, no noise |
^:dunno:
|
40's will give you better traction as well. They will feel better on the road, less feedback.
I love the way 35s look but I would never get them for a DD. |
