Headlight, blinker, and reverse light painting... [PICS]

So I had some free time so I decided to take my headlights out and paint them. I used high temp engine paint and clear coat on the inside and used VHT NiteShades tint spray to paint the turn signals. I also tinted my reverse lights just slightly... I didn't like the pinkish look they had so I just sprayed them a little bit to change them up some...

Tell me what ya think. :)

everything looks great other than the reverse lights. they look terrible. looks like the paint is very uneven.

you're very right.... I've already got them off the car and I'm repainting them... IT's much more visible in the picture than in person. Thanks!

headlights look great!

All looks good except the tails. Also, don't park oven the curb..haha

Blue Dream 06-27-2010 06:40 PM

Good advice, I'd never even clear that curb. :D

great job, not a lot of people smoking their turn signals. Looks great on a black car

well I hate the orange reflector. I took it out of my last car too. I figured I might as well try to tint it and it worked great. Only part that was a problem was that I couldn't sand it very well because of all the bumps on it... I hope the tint sticks and doesn't flake off or anything like that...

Thanks Alex!

How hard is it to take the headlight apart and do all of that? Can you seal it back good so it doesnt get any moisture inside?

Not bad. But lose the redundant Infiniti emblems.
Also the reverse lights don't look right. I know niteshades is kinda hard to work with.
Your best bet is to go 1 shade darker than you want, then sand it lightly back to the right tint and then clear.

came out great!

It's actually super easy. I was hesitant because I've tried it once before with my last car and ran into issues. Well, that was because the oven I was using didn't go down to 200 degrees so I had to bake it hotter for shorter. FYI, not a good idea.

Just put them in the over at 200 degrees for 10 mins and they come right apart! Just be careful not to let the headlights touch the walls or burners of the oven.

It rained lastnight for the first time since I resealed the headlights and guess what??? NO FOGGING!

looks like everything turned out perfect. :)

Nyteowl 06-29-2010 02:25 PM
