Superchage my 2005 G35 or buy a new g37?
#46
You already see G35's riced out and ragged out, half the ones I see on the road have some sunken-in chrome rims and horribly tacky smoked lights. That being said, the fact that the G37 is a newer car that high schoolers can't afford (yet) is also pretty weak reason to buy one.

You obviously didn't read the thread I posted earlier documenting (on the honour system, granted) many boosted G's on stock internals running 350+ for 30,000 miles and more.
Please show me the 'couple of thousand' bolt-on mod list and dyno chart for a 300whp NA VQ35, because I want me some of that!!
And as far as cheap NA builds, all it took kacz07 to hit the magic 300 was these few, inexpensive mods. I hope he got them all on eBay or they will be a bit over 'a couple thousand'...(I'm betting we blew that number at about item # 5)

That's a great reason to get a g37 and cars are just a phase. When the new 2000 maxima came out everyone wanted to get it because it was newer less miles and no one had it. It makes it look like you have money now the new 2009 everyone wants it.
Supercharged g35
Pros.
•Faster
•win street races
Cons
•Money
•Pullover rate will increase due to the
growing number of teens racing
•High mileage cars tend to need more mechanical work because this just stop working when ever it feel
•Alot of stops to the mechanic due to things breaking and not working
•Damage to parts like axles engine trans diff oh and tires lots of tires
Infiniti G37
Pros
• alot of people cannot afford it yet
• low miles meaning less trip to the mechanic more time driving
•you stand out because you have something newer
• Less mechanical problems
•newer technology
Cons
•Money
•Limited upgrades available

But hey if giving off the illusion of wealth is a big part of why you purchase a car, then by all means go get a G37. You're sure showing those high schoolers whose boss.
#50
What is limited? I have already done more to my G37 than I did to my G35.
In the end it is a simple decision. You could drop 20k into your G35 and build it. Then when you turn around to sell it, it will still be worth less than a stock G37. Plus the G37 has much nicer interior, factory warranty, not as market flooded, big brakes stock, ect ect ect.

I stopped equating cars to financial status a long time ago, a lot of losers living paycheck-to-paycheck I know drive Mercedes. A lot of doctors and business owners I know drive Toyota Camrys.

The point is driving something new less problems

I totally agree. Earlier in the thread I said if you're even debating these two choices, most likely you're going to be happier with a G37. Dropping serious time, money, and dedication into an older platform like the VQ35DE is an acquired taste.

Really? One of your pros is street races?

and spend 10k to 30k on mods now i'm not sure whats his reason for wanting a supercharger but for most people its a ego trip.

Really? I can do all the work to prove your assertion?!? Golly gee, thanks, that's swell!

I *am* seeing some VQ35HR's hit 300 with bolt-ons and a tune, but that's an 07-up car and not what the OP has.

Interesting though Jeff, but I highly doubt many on this forum would go from an Infiniti to a Pontiac. I sure as hell wouldn't.
