Magnaflow

This is the Magnaflow 14830 Muffler
Magnaflow 14815 Slightly smaller tips then HKS (3.27 vs 3) same sound as 14830

I think it sounds very good!, but googleing and searching gets me nada

Anyone know what exact muffler they are using? a Part # would be great.

I believe they are using a Universal with tips welded on.

Sounds great, I've been debating about this or the HKS axle, but haven't heard either in person. Can anyone chime in? I know its mostly opinions, but I want to hear some

Well for one, the Magnaflow will be half the price of HKS. I heard the HKS in person and it sounds good, but from videos this magnaflow gives a nice deeper sound.

So for half price and maybe better sounding, I am very interested. I sent out some PM's but these people haven't been on for months. The first video, I know he is on the forum and sent him a PM and he posted a few days ago so hopefully he will get back to me.

Good luck with that. How much do the magnaflow mufflers run for? Report back when you hear this baby in person :D So it'll be a more accurate comparison.

I got one on my 04 sedan. The magnaflow cat back I have has an x pipe instead of a y pipe. Mine sounds much better than a lot of coupes because I also have Kinetix HFC's. Mine sounds more like the second video, but not as raspy. It has a nice deep throaty sound that is just killer in person.

thescreensavers 09-21-2010 08:11 PM

Well they range in price with the size, I am trying to find out what size did they use in the Videos. But HKS is 420 and then if you have a 05+ car you need the 50 buck bracket.

I called a Mufflershop and they said 150 installed but I never gave them any part numbers, so Once I get a part number or the size they used I can call the shop up to give me a better quote.

Is the muffler a Universal? Do you have a part number of it? How much was it?

I bought my car with it on there. I'm pretty sure mine is a piece together kit (all the pieces come in a box and you have to put them up in place and weld them together). I have a reciept from the exhaust shop that installed it and it was $1100, $800 for parts and the rest was labor. Shortly after I bought my car, I put Kinetix HFC's on and that was what made the biggest difference.

Go to their website and look up exhaust kits for our cars, it's on there. I'm pretty sure you can just buy mufflers as well from them.

First clip is local member KevcoG35, PM him for MF part number. He's running my former Z middy with it (I now have his 05 sedan mid, LOL). And yes, it sounds TITS.

Yes you can buy mufflers in all different sizes and lengths, http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/universalmuffler.asp

The OEM 05 Sedan Muffler is 16inchs long and the tips are 6inches long, but its very wide.

On the first video you can easily see its slimmer and smaller. Now I could buy one that seems to be the same but if I but a bigger one it wont be as loud/deep since it will get muffled to much, and if I buy it too small it will be too loud. So it would be awesome to find out what they are running before I try other sizes.

Is your YouTube username tsslaporte? I asked the owner of the vid what muffler he used but got no response.. Someone chimed in saying they wanted to know as well.. Was that you?

I have been wanting Magnaflow for a long time but I dont know what muffler to go with. I remember another member on Driver having magnaflow on a white sedan and it was beautiful, much deeper and fuller sounding than the HKS. It may have been G35Papa or 350GT cant remember, Ill see what I can find.

That sounds great.

Yep thats me, and it that is 350.GT. I sent him a PM, if you look at the exhaust compilation his video is there Link . But he hasn't been on since July. KevcoG35 is our best hope since he has been on recently :D

I just need the part number kev used and then I can look into the cost and most probably get it.

KevcoG35 09-21-2010 11:51 PM

Thanks for the props all, part number is 14830 although I think a 14815 or 14816 would look awesome as well. (dual 3" or 3.5" instead of oval but to each their own) Cost for this muffler should be around $180 ish if you do some digging online. Don't go by magnaflow MSRP as they're completely out to lunch. Install price to add hangers and to fab a pipe to mate to your midpipe should be around $100 and for me the addition of Swivel's 350z Middy gave a nice deep note. I recommend! Although keep in mind, if you do buy an HKS, it's something you can install yourself in your garage in half an hour and it looks and sounds wicked. So weigh out the costs and if it's getting close to an HKS rear, then I'd say just pick that sucker up and install it yourself. Unless you want to set yourself apart a bit different from the rest.
