I need help deciding on coils
(And I'm posting here instead of the suspension section because everyone who's opinion I actually care about frequents this section.)
First of all, before you just click an option, please read this post so you get an idea of my situation.
I'm seriously considering picking up a set of coilovers soon.
The main two options I'm considering right now are either a used set of Tein Basics, or a new set of "Pirate's" MDUs
I'm open to other suggestions, but PLEASE bear in mind, if you guys recommend coilovers in the $1000+ price range, it's going to be no less than a year before I buy them, and quite likely more like 2+
What I'm looking for: Mainly, lower but still a good ride.
I don't care to "dump" my car, just to tuck a little tire, that's ALL.
I don't mind a 'firm' ride but I don't really want to sacrifice much comfort, I do daily this car, and other people ride with me.
I don't want to sacrifice handling. I know I'm not going to have the best handling set of coils, that's obvious... I just don't want to make a step in the wrong direction as far as handling goes.
Again, I plan on DDing this, but will also be hitting an AutoX every once in a while.
So, my options, and the pros/cons as I see them (feel free to add)
Tein Basics:
Pros -
Cheapest option by $120
Comfortable ride (rode with Sn00p, and he was even lower than I plan on being)
Can buy (semi)locally from people I trust
Cons -
They get a bad rep around the forums and people keep telling me to get something else?
They're used
Non-adjustable damping
"Pirate's" MDUs (if you guys don't know what I'm talking about, see here: https://g35driver.com/forums/brakes-...coilovers.html)
Pros -
New not used
Adjustable
Affordable
Rears can be run either "true coilover" or OEM style
Cons -
Somewhat "Unproven"
Unknown ride quality (no first-hand for me)
The more expensive option at $520 (Why couldn't I have done this back when they were $70 cheaper!? )
everyone's opinion
And finally "other"
Please select this ONLY if you think neither of the other two are a viable option and you have a legitimate suggestion that's near the same price range.
So, thoughts? Input? Suggestions? Beat me in the head with a brick?

I think the fact that you want to auto-x puts the basics on the forget it list. They are only slightly stiffer than OEM sports suspension. Granted if you also added some sway bars (a must) then it would help/improve handling but I don't think you will still be happy with them in the long run. If you just wanted to daily and not be hella-flush/poke, I'd say you could go with them. I don't have first hand experience with these but I've read enough and heard enough from those who have had them to give my 1 cent
Pirates...no idea.
I've had tein CS, Stance GR+ (true coilover) and now stance LX. I think the LX give me the perfect comfort and sport feeling. Come out to the GTG and we can go for a ride

Thanks Chris and Chris. (lulz)
The "Pirates" are the same as the MDUs, and after reading this review: https://g35driver.com/forums/brakes-...coilovers.html I'm beginning to lean in that direction. Only thing is, they offer them with two different spring rates, so there's yet another decision
Papa, what's the rates on your LX's?
