06 G35x - Rear sway bar upgrade

I have an 06 G35x and need to know if there are any options for upgrading my rear sway bar. I've seen the link here about using the RWD one but that was for 07; can I use the 06RWD sway bar as well? If not, what are my options?

I installed an Eibach rear sway for the RWD sedan on my 2006 G35x. It was a great improvement over stock. It was also cheaper than the other brands but the quality was great and the directions we easy to follow also. It came with the rubber bushings and a packet of grease.

what about the front sway bar have you already upgraded it ?

No front bars for the 04-06 but hotchiks has them sitting there waiting for a test car.

Great! I notice a lot of roll with the g35x sedans. I found this part Eibach ANTI-ROLL Single Sway Bar Kit (Rear Sway Bar Only) Part #6364.312. I think thats' the correct part - Is your car a Sedan?

Yeah that is it. I bought mine from Advance Auto Parts. They were the cheapest at the time because they were having a sale. Summit racing also sells the kit. The G35x only came in sedan form. It might say that the rear bar only fits RWD sedans but it fits the AWD version as well. I think its even the same as the coupe version. I picked the eibach because I saw a couple pictures of broken Stillen bars on the forum.

Just be aware that a stiffer rear bar will increase the tendancy for oversteer. I know the AWD platform does have a lot of push (understeer) when driven hard so a stiffer bar might make the balance better...or might cause a dangerous snap oversteer issue.

Just a heads up

I'm hoping to stop some of the funny feeling when you hit a bump or the roll when your getting on a parkway. I think the G35x is built like a luxury card with horsepower and I'm trying to get a little more performance. I was wondering if new shocks might do it - the car has 60k on the original shocks / struts.

Bringing this back from the dead.

I too am looking for an improvement in the rear suspension on my 06x. From what I have read, the front bar is pretty big on the X, and so the biggest gains come from the rear bar. What i'm mostly looking to improve is the feel of the back end wanting to kick out in a turn over any kind of bump. The rear just doesn't feel planted.

Hotchkis has a front and rear kit for about $400 shipped from a couple vendors here, but there is an Eibach rear bar on Amazon for $192. Will this be a good fit for me?

Edit- I just found the bar on sale (online) at Advance Auto Parts for $156 shipped! I think i'm going to do this.

Will do. I should have it Saturday, so I probably won't install it until Tuesday.

If all goes according to plan, this will be a much cheaper alternative to the full Hotchkis set (which I almost got, but $400 is a lot). Advance auto parts is out of stock and so are a lot of other places, so I ended up getting mine from JC Whitney for around $180 shipped. Still not too bad.

Im watching this thread as well.. Got an 04X that loves to roll on the corners!

keithk831 05-06-2012 01:37 AM

Ok, so my sway bar arrived today and I installed it after work!

Install took about an hour. Wasn't too hard, and I did it all with the exhaust in place. That saved a lot of time and work. I set it at the middle hole (medium stiffness).

Initial impressions: The roll in the back is gone! Really steers and handles differently now. I need to mess around with the settings to see which I like the most, but overall I think it was a good buy. If you are on the fence, I say go for it. I paid around $180 shipped on eBay from JC Whitney.

Questions?
