'05 6MT G35 no longer have Brembo?? What's going on?
 

Hi, a newbie here.. started to look into my next vehicle, and was disappointed to find that there's no longer the Brembo brake for all G35.. (350Z still got them on the Track and the 35 Anniv model)

Any thoughts on this issue? Just a way to cut cost?

I doubt it was to cut cost given that the 350Z still has them and their price hasn't changed much. More likely it was all the owners that complained about the short lifetime of their brakes because they are performance brakes. Too bad, they should had made it an option.

I wouldn't sweat it much. The 6mt w. sport model have the revised and larger brakes that are nearly identical to the Brembo dimensions. They are however still single piston type. Not an issue unless you track your car regularly.

I am sure I don't "need" it, but would be nice to have the option..
 

I think the brake life issue was mostly caused by the brake pads, right??

Anyway, yeah, I do see that they are now 12.7", so it should provide plenty of power for braking..

The G35 Sedan never had Brembo's just the 6 spd G35 Coupes. The new 05 G35 Sedan has better brakes then the 04 did, so I wouldn't be complaining too much, it was an option never available on the sedan.

I think the Brembo was standard on the 6MT sedan.... maybe I am mistaken....

I have one and I do not ahve Brembo's nor does my friend who has an 04 6mt as well.

Sedans never had Brembo's on any model, only the 03 and 04 6spd coupes! Now the 05's dont..

Hope to get one later this year.. 350Z with only 2 seats is just not practical enough for me. Although the Mazda RX8 seems like an interesting alternative...

RX8 is horrible man, they drink oil, they have oil flooding problems, they get poor mileage, their resale value is in the tank, and they're not that quick.

Other then those 'GLARING' problems it's actually a pretty cool car.

PS - the dealers don't cover flooded engines under warranty, you have to pay the $700 each time to have the car de-flooded. To avoid flooding you need to follow precise startup and shutdown procedures which are a huge inconvenience. (e.g. don't shut the car down unless it's fully warmed up). Thus, if your girlfriend decides to move your car out of the garage so she can get some of her stuff and turns the car off, flooded engine.

Interesting.. what's causing the "flooding" problem?
 

I guess I better read up on the RX8 before I go out to the dealer!!

It is not as upscale as the G for sure, but it is also 500 lbs lighter, so while it is not a powerful, its handling is arguable better than the G.. and can be had for thousands less..

Like I said, it's a great other then the reasons I suggested above. It does handle well, it's a nice blend of sportiness, agility, and luxury, but the G35 is still better overall.

If you want to save some money, consider the Subaru Legacy GT, it's fast, reliable, frugal, athletic, and nicely appointed. Still no G35, but it's a nice one to consider for $8-10k less.

Infiniti's extended brake warranty offered by Infiniti was for the standard brakes, NOT the Brembos. The Brembos as fitted to the G35 6MT Coupe are the same brakes fitted to the Nissan 350Z Track and 35th Aniv. Edition. Nissan didn't drop them. Infiniti did. Remember Infiniti is a division of Nissan, and they still use them on the 350Z - So there is no problem with the brakes.

If my "G" hadn't come with the Brembos, I would not have bought the car - simple as that. The feel, modulation and performance of the stock brakes was unsatisfactory to me. If the G35 Coupe is to be a World Class car it needs World Class brakes. The Brembos are wonderfully responsive, have great feel, no fade on the street, are very easy to modulate, and stop right now. To me, they are a must have.

BTW, the Sedan never used the Brembos.

What woulkd you have bought, I admit they look cool, but I find it hard to believe that was the sole reason you bought a $35-40k car. How about I sell you a Civic with Brembo's ;)

Did I say it was the sole reason? I bought my coupe for a myriad of reasons. One of those being the Brembos. If the 6MT was not so equipped, I would not have bought it.
