What the hell!?

I was on my way home tonight and my 04 G35 sedan 6mt shut off when i tried to pull out of an intersection. Now the car will cranks but wont start. In addition to that the power windows and sunroof will not work. Also when I tried to connect my OBDII scanner it would not connect with the ECU. Anybody have ANY ideas at all?

Do your lights still work and fans run? If so, your ECU is most likely fried from a grounding problem.

From what I could see all other electronics were working properly....just wouldn't start and now windows or sunroof. All grounds are connected in the factory locations.... still think ECU?

Sounds like it. Lights and dash will all work, and if the motor was hot and needed it, the fans would work as well. I'd let someone else jump in before taking it a mechanic to see if it's for sure fried.

Is there a way to test the ECU? I was pretty sure it was electrical when it happened. And then when my obd scanner couldn't find or connect to the ECU I instantly assumed ECU also.

Well I found my issue.....the 10 amp fuse for engine control in the kick panel inside the pass compartment was blow. Now im wondering what made the fuse blow or is it just a fluke. Ill be searching the wires by my pass side valve cover since I changed it yesterday hopefully no pinched wires. If I would have pinched one in the vc itself I would have an oil leak though so im not sure where exactly to start looking.....any ideas or do you guys think it was a fluke?

Good thing the fuse was there,,,,that's what it's put there for hahaha

pghg35sedan 03-24-2012 11:14 AM

My worry now is why did it blow or was it just a coincidence

bluedevils95 03-24-2012 12:12 PM

Did you replace it yet? Do you think you can call the dealers for this knowledge?

PAIXAO 03-24-2012 12:15 PM

Id just replace it and see if it happens again.

pghg35sedan 03-24-2012 01:09 PM

I replaced it and changed my oil(not related just needed done)....im gonna go grab a few spares and see if it happens again.....if it does ill start looking for a bigger problem

bigjee 03-24-2012 03:05 PM

if it goes a second time soon, then i'd get to the bottom of it.
If it doesn't blow again, just write it off as a one time thing.

pghg35sedan 03-24-2012 03:23 PM

That's my plan
