Replacing battery
Hi folks,
Just wondering if replacing battery in a sedan is fairly simple? Any special tools needed? Anything to watch out for as far as the electronics? I've done it in Hondas before which is dead easy ;) BTW, I searched through the forums and didn't find any DIY. Thanks |
It's pretty easy. Just need some muscle to lift the battery out as it's in an awkward location.
I did mine in my driveway with handtools when the OEM battery died on me one COLD winter morning. I think i just needed a socket set with a 12" extension |
Have you tried it yet? It was fairly easy as I recall, but I would definitely get a replacement battery with a handle. The battery cover has to be removed, as well as part of the cowl cover. For the battery cover, it's not just the access panel, but the entire plastic piece that surround the cover. Both the cover and the cowl section are fastened the car with plastic clips. The clips can be quite fragile so be careful both pulling them out and reinserting them. When reinserting make sure to line the hole up, and press the clip together so that it's not spread too wide, that seem to help with preventing them from breaking.

Make sure the battery has a handle. It sits pretty low. Make sure your battery has the terminal for + on the driverside. Need a 10mm socket

Sounds like a good excuse to buy a socket extension :)

You use an open end wrench
