Evap system leak (large) and fluctuating gas levels?

2005 G35x with 135k miles. P0455 code. This code has come and gone for the past year. Each time it comes I notice the gas level tends to fluctuate by as much as a quarter tank throughout the day.

The usual suspects seem to be gas cap or evap purge valve. Can anyone help pick one with the addition of the fluctuating gas level symptom? I much rather only buy one part or the other instead of just throwing parts at it. Any other thoughts or ideas for fixes?

Thanks in advance.

i have no codes BUT!!!! my gas gauge has gone crazy in my 05x with 71k

It doesn't happen when its on the full side, it happens near the 1/2 mark. I know i should be near 1/2 because i use my odometer to keep track of MPG. I normally get 320miles before the light goes on and 150miles means 1/2 tank. When i start my car it would be at 1/2 tank but continues to go up SLOWLY as a drive. So after 15-30 minutes it will show 3/4or 4/5 full! I turn off the car and cycle the key and it will show up back at 1/2 tank. It gets me annoyed but i've dealt with it for a while, I know how much gas i have but it would suck for someone who doesn't know how to do such things.

I have same issue for over 2 years i t does not bother me i dont loose mpg. But the tank issue is so anoying. I checked canister hoses for cracks and leaks in passenger rear of car just in front of rear bumper and is well. But still a same code. I know its not gas cap. If i hear that crap one more time im gonna punch them in the face. I would guess the purge valve which is on the canister i did visual check but its electronic so it could be the electronic side.ive been meaning to do the job but wtf im lazy. Tho i cant see how that effects gas gauge. Issue i have but im no expert. Im just a average D.IY.

I have this code too. Does anyone else have a gassy smell occasionally and also a "sulfur like" smell after stepping on the gas?

Something is not right with my 04x

Can you please give more info on it being covered because I just discovered not too long ago that my evaporator core has a leak in it and I really don't understand how it even happened and it's a ridiculous repair job.
