Paint won't match and it will probably not be perfect. Better to let the insurance handle it and have them source an used door in the same color

I took the G into a local body shop. Repair bill is $1400 and includes replacement rear door (used), repair scratches on front door, and repaint the whole side of the car.

Replacement door I found turned out to be the wrong color. Too bad, because I would have been fine with that option if the paint was reasonable close.

The pricing on that sounds about right. Two years ago I had some drunk kick in both of my rear door panels, luckily we found out who it was. The shop ended up "skinning" both doors where they lay another body panel over the door and resprayed both sides of the car and it cost the person who kicked it about $3200.

That sucks. And you just got a new exhaust on as well. At least you're getting it fixed. I'm in a similar situation, someone backed out of a parking space and dented the same door as yours. I haven't tried to get it fixed yet. No extra money for that.

Update: I found a mint door from a 2005 for $100. Wrong color but I'm going to have the whole car painted a new color. I got $1400 cash from the girl's dad. Should cover the whole thing.

1400 wont cover the cost to repaint the entire car.

Atleast not here in Canada.

If you want my opinion, just repaint the replacement door and ask the shop to match the color to the adjacent panels as close as possible.

Repainting the entire car over just a door is over kill especially if you only have 1400.
Work on the part that messed up and fix it up properly rather than repainting parts that really have nothing wrong with them.

I was quoted $1100-$1200 for a complete repaint to factory quality. Be aware that properly repainting the door requires a repaint of almost half the car to inconspicuously blend the new and old paint.

Your two stage paint is easier to match than say a three stage therefore you wont need that much blending.

But its your money and if you they will do a good job then all the power to you.

Some may disagree with my decision but it's getting painted Synergy Green, like this...

I am also going to repaint the plastic side skirts (and possibly the wheels) black.

I'd really question the quality of a $1000 total repaint....especially a color change

I had my Mustang repainted factory black back in 2001...total bill was $4500ish. It didn't even need bodywork, that was striping it down, removing trim, lights, etc and doing a total repaint.
