SMH! Neighbor's teenage daughter reverses out of their driveway...right into my car

And here is the result...

Thankfully, her dad offered to pay for the damage. Do you think this is a repair or a replacement job on the driver's side rear door? I'm just wondering roughly how much he's looking at.

Theres two options. Get new door/panel which im pretty sure would cost over 1K or just get it repaired for 600-900 depending on where you go & who you know where they would just knock it back out, bondo & repaint. Similar thing happen to one of my trucks except it looked like someone hit it with a axe & I opted for just repair instead of replacing with new panels. Since someone else is paying I'd opt for the new OEM.

Good idea! I found a replacement door of the same color locally via eBay for $320. Is it pretty straight forward to switch out or will I need specialized tools?

EDIT: Found a "How To". Looks easy enough.

Yeah, but it'd be in person. Can't quite tell from the pics if it's desert platinum (like mine) or silver though...

Prob a bad idea. Everytime someone I personally know got involved with an outside insurance repair, it usually ends up worse for the person who's car got damaged.

It usually stems around the person thinking the car owner is inflating the bill with a higher quote and then going to either pocket the money, or go to a cheaper shop...or they want to pick the shop themselves and save money. Shop A could say it will cost $1200 to repair the car, but then the guy will say his cousin's brother's uncle Vinny can do it for $500 if you take it to his shop. You go and they do a half-*** job on the repair.

Either way, i recommend going through insurance and getting the car repaired well by a shop of your choosing. Being Mr Nice guy doesn't always work out

Well there is another payment scenario that could play out. That is if by teenage you mean 18 and hot. However, merely proposing such an idea could lead to your early demise.
