Major 03 sedan problem!!!
The car is running sluggish i step on throttle and it barely has power. the car sounds just like a lawn mower when driving and shifts gears at high rpms ( 3-4k ). also when I'm in park if i rev the motor my exhaust sounds like a tin can full of rocks. I have no idea what my problem is i have 160k miles. I've replaced boots and plugs. pcv valve and hose. does anybody have an answer to my problem??? New to the forums hope i posted in the correct place.

did it do that before?
I would take the plugs out and reinstall them.. make sure they are torqued correctly and the coil plugs are tight.. also.. did you put them back into the correct holes? what brand of plugs did you use? |
I tightened them til they were snugged. used bosch brand plugs. (Titanium) n yes car was doing this before i replaced everything.

....i think i put too much oil in my ride read my dipstick and its on high. Did i screw up my ride or can it be fixed by just draining some oil?????
Is it at the H on the dip stick or way above the H? How much oil did you put in? Did you have any codes previously?
I had misfire codes. (But not til after adding the oil) When i added oil it was in between L and H and considering i have an oil keak i figured ide add 3/4 of a quart now its a lil above H. My car didn't start running this terrible til a couple days after i added the oil. ( Ide say i drove the car around 60 miles since i added the oil that day)

Draining some oil fix my problem or is it too late???
Being a half quart over wouldn't cause any serious problems, sounds like you might want to have your car towed to a shop and have a pro take a look at it before any more damage is done.
Maybe a bad coil could be causing the misfire code.
It's not the cat converter heat shields by any chance? I know when the welds on mine broke, it buzzed and rattled like crazy and sounded terrible
Ok well i went to shop n they put new boots and coils on the misfiring cylinders and still did the same thing. told me it could be a catylic converter.... so went to a muffler shop and the guy told me its not the catylic converter that its my air intake thing (the rubber black piece) i wrapped it in duck tape cause it had a rip in it..... now idk who to believe on what the problem is.....
Duct tape in your engine bay should not be a thought when it comes to fixing something
i think you need to find a better mechanic. i would look at your fuel system if you are still having misfiring issues. do you have any codes thrown?
Well make sure the intake tube is sealed to eliminate that from the equation. Unmetered air entering the engine will make the car run funny
