06 G35x Driver's Power Seat- Twist
Hi I'm new to the site. My problem, the power driver's seat moves forward only on the left track while the right side track stays in one place. Kind of twisting the seat to the right as it moves forward. I've searched the Internet, was there a recall with a dealer repair? Anyone have similar problem or a solution short of bringing to a dealer (talking expensive). I'll fix myself but I'm not sure where to start. Thanks

The motor gears commonly strip. You can get replacements. You might want to pull the seat out and inspect to see that the gear is intact.
Rockauto.com sells the gears. It's listed under the "interior" category. No dealer recall..you are on your own to fix this. |
Thanks for the info and that Rock Auto carries the gear I'll need. I also found some repair photos via Google. This repair will save me some big bucks!!

I checked that first, no luck I needed the gear which I purchased from RockAuto. Just for fun I went to a Nissan dealer and inquired about the gear. The parts guy went right to the old " you'll have to buy the whole seat track" ( I'm sure he was thinking about his parts commission) I told him in front of his guys and a customer, no you can buy the gear from after market sources and it can be repaired-kinda took the wind out of his sails! On the other hand an Infiniti parts guy agreed with the design flaw and told me if he gets and seats in for replacement he'd call me and give me a gear. That was refreshing.

Reminds me of a funny story.
Years back when i was a teenager, i had a friend that loved buying ex police vehicles. Anyway, he bought a crown vic and we were cleaning it up. Trying to adjust the seat and something was jamming it. So i broke out the rachet set and unbolted the seat and took it out of the car. Flip it over and there was a nice S&W .40 magazine jammed in the tracks...loaded. Mag was dented up a bit. |

Replaced mine a while back. You should check here >>> http://www.odometergears.com/product...+01-Present/98 first since they identify and sell different designs used by Infiniti. There is also DIY directions with photos. RockAuto only sells one design and is about half the price, however OdometerGears.com claims to use superior materials to OEM and gives a lifetime warranty
