Best oil catch can? All info is pretty old , wondering if anything new is out?
Hello !! After driving the g for couple weeks i decided its time to start playing around with it a little . I want to install a oil catcher , I have read a lot of good info but the info is old and there isnt much of final decisions . This is on of the threads i used https://g35driver.com/forums/engine-...catch-can.html . I would like to know what setup is everyone running now ? it been 10 years since some of the threads so im sure theres better info and knowlage out there i just cant find it . I want to know what oil catcher and hoses everyone is using to make this work and not damage anything. Thanks guys !!

Nothing has changed in the past 10 years, we're still using catch cans and they're doing their job keeping oil residue out of our upper plenums. I'm using a C7 Corvette closed catch can and Gates safety stripe high pressure hose. You do not want an open (breather) catch can, to many members have made that mistake! :google: C7 Corvette catch can, just the right look/size and easy to empty! Search catch can install, for the description. Good Luck and enjoy the ride!

Gary Open one on paper claims to perform better than the closed one. |

You can also go to Summitt racing's website and choose from some of the ones available. You'll just need to custom tailor it for your install. |

There's a few to pick from, but yes, they are a tad pricey.

The small Mishimoto catch can will do the job, they come with everything you need for $125=.

Breather filter or closed cans?
Sorry to revive an old thread but I need a quick brief response.
What is the advantage of oil cans with breather filter compared to closed cans? The reason I asked is when I installed a universal closed can 5k miles ago, I heard an air leak (or is it a vacuum leak?) coming from pcv valve to the catch can. I ignored it and drove fine without any warning lights and codes, I was thinking the breather filter will resolve that issue? I emptied the can last night and got at least good amount of oil from the can (I would say about 10ml of oil) also noticed oil leaking coming from the bottom of the can, there was a rubber seal and now I added teflon tape to prevent leaks in the future. |
