SES, VDC OFF and SLIP Lights - I know, it's the sensor!
 

Just thought I would contribute. 2006 G35X Sedan

Had nearly bald front tires, one blew, replaced it with the new spare in trunk. Rode on it for about 3 days and then the SES, VDC and SLIP lights all came on.

Some preliminary research indicated it might be the brake pads, brake fluid or gas cap. I thought maybe since I had one new steer tire and one bald, it might be affecting the braking. I had new tires installed and all the lights went off. But two days later they all came back on.

So I've done some more thorough research and now I believe it must be the Passenger Side camshaft position sensor. I am getting the 0340 code and the forums indicate that is the passenger side, 0345 is the driver. So I went to Napa and bought the Passenger side straight sensor.

I plan to install it tomorrow morning.

My question to anyone reading is: Did driving with one bald and one new tire somehow cause the sensor to go bad? And if yes, how? Or is it just a coincidence? Car has been running just perfectly since we bought it 2 years ago -- 155k miles.

Did you check the brake fluid level? I have read threads that indicated this may cause your symptoms. It is an easy cheap option if you have not already checked this out. Would fill fluid between min and max level since your brakes might have some wear and do not want to overflow when pushing back the calipers during brake pad/rotor replacement. Hope this helps.

AlexJG, yes that was the first thing I checked, it was good. Gas cap is tight and no damage. When I got my new tires the guy said the brake pads were fine.

So I did replace the Passenger Side Camshaft Position Sensor (Straight Sensor) -- It was a little cramped but after about 20 minutes it was replaced. I reset the ECU and the SES light went out. I went for about a 15 mile drive and the light has stayed off. So, here's hoping that the new sensor fixed the problem! Very happy camper right now... this is definitely a DIY fix!

The original sensor is taken out, it was covered with some oil, don't drop it!

Had to remove this piece first so I could get my hand and wrench down into the space behind the engine.

A view down into the space... the battery cables are a definite obstacle! But they are passable. - If you look down you can see the green clip after I pulled it off... also you can see the bolt for the sensor.

Sounds like you're good to go, nice! FWIW, I've had to replace this sensor already on my '06x too, it's pretty common on these cars. Fortunately, it's an easy DIY repair!
