Amanda's staying in the family
Well a lot of you know Amanda's for sale and it's broken me a bit to think of someone else owning her and having to say goodbye. She needs a new radiator fan, rear brake pads and a full bushing replacement but other than that she's in pretty damn good shape for 138K miles. After much deliberation and the fact my GF drives a pos 94 Nissan p/up I have decided to pass my baby (yes car mf'ers) to the most amazing woman I've ever met in my life.
I'll raise the car a bit, she sits too low for Melissa to drive her comfortably, give the car a complete inside and out detail and probably pull the front Wilwoods and 2 piece rotors and put stock brakes back on. So I DON'T have to completely let Amanda go and that makes my day!!! Thanks to all who have supported and guided her over the years, I'll still be active here to regulate and ban the stupid azzholes that deserve it lololololololol. And if any of you see jerseytaylor or Scraggle Rock, give them a hug, they need one. :DOMO: |
Ahhhhh BIC BOI
|
I dunno how y'all can do this. Like, yeah, the platform is being overrun by dbags, but these cars still look sexy af going down the road, especially when they're all done up.
Now that I have my Daily all caught up, I'll be getting down on the G again. Goin with purple calipers soon. Man, y'all changed over night. |
I can only speak for myself but this was not an overnight thing. I've had the G for almost 8 years and previous to buying it I bought a new to me car every 2 years like clockwork. Having pt over $12K in mods in her over the years and doing most of them myself this has been the most satisfying car experience I have ever had. But nothing lasts forever and I'm not getting any younger.
Always wanted a GTO so I started looking for one 11 months before I bought mine. It had to be super low mileage, in great shape, stock, never driven in snow, 6 speed, never smoked in and be one of the colors I wanted. I was willing to get on a plane and fly anywhere in the US to purchase one and drive it home. I scoured the Internet and low and behold I found one in SW Houston with 27K miles and I lived in NW Houston. Needless to say she became mine last fall. Love this damn car and was amazed at how capable a daily driver she is. That made the G expendable because I have no need or desire to have 2 cars to maintain, pay insurance on and take up space only to have one just sit there most of the time. As my OP said, I'm excited to have the G stay in the family AND be driven every day by someone who appreciates her. So overnight, hell naw. Well planned and executed with the best possible outcome acheived!!! |
Good for you. I seriously miss my G. I kinda wish I kept it. Would have just yanked the drivetrain and done my Lsx/6spd swap. :)
But seriously, good for you. I know what it's like to move on. I had my G for 8 years as well and was trying to hold on as long as I could before...well...you know. I still see 03-06 sedan's and they catch me eye. I'm know over the years tons of members have moved onto BMW's and Mercedes and such, but i'll probably be the only person on here that will say they moved onto a Ford Taurus and love it. |

How big are those Taurus'? One passed me yesterday and I thought it was a truck/SUV when it was behind me. Thing was HUUGGE.
Despite the size, it can handle quite well. And it's probably the best braking car I've ever driven. Comes with 255 width rubber, so it just grabs. Acceleration wise....eh. I should have gotten the SHO. 290HP can only move 4200 pounds so quick. But if I got the SHO I'd get myself in trouble. |

They are huge. They are the same chassis as the Explorer/Flex and it's looooooong. That's actually one of the things I like about the car. The size. It really grew on me and I don't know if I can drive a small car anymore. I've got a Limited, so it's got plenty of technology in it and the air conditioned seats are probably my favorite feature.

4200lbs?!?!? Lol Jesus..put a turbo on it.
Despite 4200 lbs, it still gets 30-31MPG on the highway running 87 octane. I'm averaging 21-22 around town. Coming from a G35 it took me a while to get used to that concept. |

Gas mileage, now that's a different story all together. :driving: |

In fact I've been pulled over a couple of times for ticky tack BS like failing to signal a lane change and not even a warning ticket, just a verbal both times.:
Lit up 2nd gear in my Mustang a couple weeks ago right in front of a cop doing paperwork. Pulls me over, we shoot the breeze for a few mins and I'm on my way. |
At least not physically right?
Priceless story I think we get the AARP badge of respect. I moved to Corpus Christi earlier in the year and the cops here seem cool so far. Replaced the radiator and thermostat in the G and even though both the registration and inspection are expired (because I never drive it any more) I drove it to work and back at the end of July just to make sure the cooling system was working properly. Got pulled over doing 57 in a 45 zone, had the expired registration/inspection, didn't have the insurance card for the G with me (had the GTO card in the G for some reason and the cars are on 2 separate policies with different ins. carriers) and I haven't changed my permanent address on my DL. Could have gotten 5 separate tickets and the popo gave me a ticket only for the regis. And to top it off that was 7/31 and the ticket still hasn't been entered into the system here almost 3 months later. I guess being an old fogey has it's privileges. |
