HELP! Fuel Door and Trunk won't open.

2004 G35 Sedan...
So a while back my trunk stopped working and the emergency release is broken. (see picture). But this weekend the fuel door doesn't seem to be unlocking. Big Problem Here. I am pretty much on "E" and the stuff people are recommending so far hasn't worked (unlocking & locking, starting car, etc) Has anyone else come across this issue? Is there a fuse for these things? Any urgent help is much appreciated. Thanks. Desperate G35 Owner |
Start taking the trim apart to access the back of the fuel door lock actuator, it's going to be a pain working through the back seat so you can work on taking the trim off to access the trunk lock first I suppose. The moral of this story is don't leave broken stuff on your vehicle because it can snowball into something much worse...

Is there a way to remove the seats to work through them or do I just work through the little opening?

You can remove the upper rear seat portion, but its really not going to give you any additional room in that opening.

The actual culprit once you get the trunk open is probably the wiring harness going to the trunk, it's a common point of failure for the wires to break inside it, you probably also have a blown fuse or two as well.

Had the same issue with fuel door, no broken fuses, I ended up getting behind the fuel door and unplugging the wire. However, my trunk was able to open and wasn't a big deal to get to. Good luck!

Good call, forgot all about the trunk lock switch. It won't fix the gas cap solenoid problem but it might make accessing it easier :)
