Cam position sensor P0345 problems and fix VDC & Slip

I have been getting a crash course in G35 repair since I bough my first one a couple months ago and bought a second one the week after Anyway the car had several unrelated problems to this when I bought it so I fixed her up and thought I was good for awhile since the mileage is relatively low (125k miles) and has been maintained well. One day I took a corner and it fell on it's face like it was out of gas and then picked back up and was fine. I thought it was just too low on gas and didn't think anything of it. About 3-4 days later it did it on straight road with 1/2 tank gas so I knew something was up. The next time it did it the VDC / Slip light stayed on was hard to start and has a loss of power and it finally popped a P0345 code. So I replaced both cam sensors with ones from a 2006 FX35 146k drivetrain I just bought. Well they were bad too! So I thought I would try the Ebay specials just for kicks, $18.50 for both cam sensors and the crank sensor what a deal!!! Lasted 2 days and P0345. So I decided bite the bullet and order a OEM Nissan sensor. Some said Amazon was $80-$90 but I don't trust buying anything there since it's one of the worst places to get counterfeit parts. So I found one at Boch Nissan South for $107 shipped. The part number has changed over the years so I would guess they have improved, they now look just like the speedo and revolution sensors in the Nissan transmissions we work on and have the metal outer shield. I have never ran into any of the transmission sensors that look like this to be bad even the 250k mile + sensors so I hope these are similar.

Changing the sensors out took about 1 hour the first time but now with practice I can change them in about 20-30 mins. A small 1/4 ratchet with deep 10mm socket is all that I used. I did all of the work from the passenger side and reached under the intake/throttlebody area and felt for the sensor. The plug had a flat push in blade, you have to push it completely in and also try to push the connector down at the same time to release it from the sensor. The Oring on the new sensor needs some grease or Vaseline to smoothly insert back into the head. The passenger side sensor is cake since there isn't much in the way and you don't have to change it blindly.

Edit: Adding part numbers for Right and Left sensors
Driver side cam sensor - 23731-AL616 - Superseded - 23731-AL61D <-- New part number (revised)
Passenger cam sensor - 23731-6J906 - Superseded - 23731-6J90D <-- New part number

These sensors are used in the Altima/Maxima/Murano/Titan/Quest//350Z/G35/G35x/M35x/FX35/VQ35/VQ40/VK56 so don't be surprised if your invoice from the dealership has one of them listed instead of your G35

6 speed G35 sedan
Was so much easier when I had a Maxima and I didn't have a firewall in the way. OEM is definitely the way to go on these cars.

The new OEM 23731-AL61D has been working great for 4 days now. I had another cheap set of sensors from another manufacturer come in yesterday and I tried them and they didn't work either. I'm going to order both cam sensors and crank sensor from Boch Nissan for my 05' G35x that's going turbo since I don't want to blow anything up because of faulty sending units.
